North Carolina child’s ‘monster in the closet’ was in fact 50,000 bees in the wall

Family discovers ‘terrifying’ gigantic bee colony in wall of home with blood-like honey oozing down wall and $20,000 in damage

(Beekeepers ultimately removed tens of thousands of bees over several extractions, and a honeycomb weighing more than 100lb.)

100lbs of honey at $20/lb is good payback.

Personally, I would make mead and call it The Walls Were Weeping Blood. It would sell like crazy.

Parents of teens, I need a book recommendation!

This is to appease some well-meaning but overtly Christian and out-of-touch family members. Something for a 12yo who reads well above his age, along the lines of inspiration/motivation for teens to be good humans and members of society

Rather than have them pushing propaganda on my son I’d like to find a worthwhile read they will feel addresses the insufficient Christian influence in his life

CS Lewis - Narnia, or his space trilogy starting with Out of the Silent Planet.

Mary Stewart - The Crystal Cave, the Hollow Hills, etc

John Wyndham - The Chrysalids and The Day of the Triffids and others.

These are not new and may not appeal to modern teen, but the stories are classics, and their morals are solid.

The family overseers will recognize them, but the books are not preachy.

For something more modern, try Connie Willis' Doomsday Book.

Bernie Sanders tried to warn us in 2016. Many bridges like the Francis Scott Key Bridge don't have adequate protection against ship strikes. And we need to look at how the ship was manufactured and the company's safety record. There is no way the power should have been lost on that ship. A recent piece in the NYT came out on Boeing's willingness to take shortcuts for the bottom line. I suspect their behavior is hardly unique. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/3/28/2231894/-Container-Ship-Dali-Power-Failure-What-Happened?pm_campaign=trending&pm_source=sidebar&pm_medium=web

As someone who used to work in food safety, the only protection the public has against corporations that cut corners, or stated correctly, act fraudulently are unsung, unappreciated, and under-paid (for the importance of the work they do) government regulators and inspectors.

It's not the culture of Boeing or a rogue shipping company that went bad. It's ALL companies. Every last one of them would, if given half a chance, act in the exact same way. Any industry you can name.

The only way to get where ALL OF US want to go, is through using JOE BIDEN to get to the NEXT STEP. There is NO OTHER WAY. The only other candidate who can win, will make everything you want to see happen merely ACADEMIC. You'll NEVER be able to fight for whatever it is, EVER AGAIN. You won't be able to BE IT, DO IT, TALK ABOUT IT without serious problems. There's NOTHING TO THINK ABOUT.

It seems inconceivable that the US is on the brink of having a presidential candidate who speaks of dictatorship. Maybe US citizens need to think about what that might mean. That's all I was getting at.
