With the exception of #Apple, every major company has switched to #Chromium which #Google controls.

It also does not help that 86% of Firefox’s revenue comes from Google.

@Brendanjones @6beer @aggeka @alexeheath It’s about #GDPR being enforceable against my sites. Since three of the instances I use are in #Europe, the #EuropeanUnion 🇪🇺 could technically (& physically) shut my sites down.

If I am located outside of the European Union 🇪🇺, they could issues decrees & I would simply ignore them (which is what #Threads is doing).

I believe many from #BlackTwitter who abandoned #Mastodon will probably embrace #Threads by #Instagram (many are already using Instagram like #Twitter for what it is worth).

I will try to reintroduce them to the #Fediverse, but this time promote #Misskey & #Calckey as viable options.

I believe the window of opportunity for this will be short, as I assume (I have not evidence for this, so be skeptical) Threads will launch managed hosting options within months of entering the Fediverse.

When I visited #Japan 🇯🇵 & #Singapore 🇸🇬, most people did not wear masks.

Very few wear masks in the #UnitedStates 🇺🇸 & I believe the same is true for the #UnitedKingdom 🇬🇧 too.
