@fj Careful: This is only the Parliament's negotiating mandate. Governments in Council will next decide on theirs; so far there is #chatcontrol and destroying secure #E2EE in it. Afterwards trilogue negotiations on the final legislation.
🇬🇧 Amazing news from the European Parliament: 💥 Parliament negotiators have agreed to aim for stoppig #chatcontrol and guaranteeing secure encryption! Let’s not relent now...
HopToDesk is a free remote desktop tool allowing users to share their screen and allow remote control access to their computers and devices.
I am amused by the James Cameron joke, but very happy to see Signal is letting you edit messages after they're sent. (With a status change indicating they've been edited, and you can look back to see changes.)
"What's New — October 11, 2023 — Now you can right-click on any sent message or press the up arrow on your keyboard to edit what you just said."
How to send encrypted (at a cost) and ‘confidential’ emails on Gmail
Gmail may be very easy to use, and probably also one of the most used e-mail services out there, but Google has still not made any real effort to help e-mails going proper E2EE for all, despite the technology being available for a very long time.
The reality of quitting commercial social media apps.
Over the past year, I stopped using FB/Insta/Twitter/Whatsapp. As a result, my ENTIRE social circle instantly ceased to exist. Friends, family, everyone.
Not a single person was willing to keep in touch without using the mega-apps. Attempts to explain why I left only seemed to infuriate people and paint me as a social pariah.
For me I've made my mom use her #email via #DeltaChat to communicate with me instead of FB Messenger or SMS. As a nice bonus I get #E2EE due to Delta Chat supporting #Autocrypt. I only use SMS when I know either of us don't have internet and Messenger if a media attachment is not getting delivered properly via email for some reason (though I only stick to mobile and desktop web and never use their mobile app)
