#fail#communication#pub

Well goodness! Those tips were just life changing. If only I'd known reducing energy use could be this simple. Thank you so much! #accessibility#fail
I hate it when softwares are using braille dots for a progress bar. Nah, really I do.
These are braille characters in a lot of cases, folks. They're not meant to be pretty to look at, or looking fancy for your progress indicator. They're meant for blind people to read and understand informations. What do you think my brain understand when it sees braille dots 1, 3 and 5 together? The "o" letter. And that's just one example.
While undenyable that Apple has done far more than any other commercial entity when it comes to accessibility and integration into all their products, the disabled community are still treated as secondary users of lesser importance. If a public beta of iOS caused screens to go dark randomly for tens of seconds at a time, it would be immediately addressed. It would be production-stop on a final release, and that final release would never get out the proverbial door until that issue was resolved. If tapping on a screen completely loaded the wrong thing on a random basis, same result. Show stop until fixed. Not so for the same kinds of proverbial issues that voiceover users face, year on year, release after release. #Apple#Accessibility#fail
Reuven Lerner: “I teach courses in Python and Pandas. Never mind that the first is a programming language and the second is a library for data analysis in Python. Meta’s AI system […] assumed that I was talking about the animals (not the technology), and banned me. The appeal that I asked for wasn’t reviewed by a human, but was reviewed by another bot, which (not surprisingly) made a similar assessment.” https://lerner.co.il/2023/10/19/im-banned-for-life-from-advertising-on-meta-because-i-teach-python/
Asked #Copilot (formerly #BingChat) a familiar riddle but with numbers changed to make it impossible. It generated the same solution but substituting the numbers so that it ends up with the nonsense claim:
It's not just Google, of course. When you trust your data to ANY #cloud service, you can get rugpulled at any moment without warning. Remember, they have the de-facto control over the data, and you don't.
Is it just me or is #phpstorm getting worse by the day?
I'm runnig 2024.1 (Build #PS-241.14494.237, built on March 27, 2024) but have to constantly restart the IDE to fix bizarre errors like PHPStorm claiming a property or parameter isn't used while highlighting the very use a line later, inconsistently resolving asserts with instanceof checks - e.g. claiming a method doesn't exist in the class referenced in a different assert and not seeing a parameter that is clearly there... #fail#ensh11n
