I'm doing my meal planning for tomorrow's lunch and was trying to decide between plant-based protein or eggs. I'm really focusing on getting enough protein as I ramp up but also keep calories in line so would I be hamstringing myself by choosing lentils or chickpeas over the eggs? Nope! All three have reasonable serving sizes (5 oz for chickpeas and lentils, or 2 eggs) and calories for the same 13 grams of protein. Chickpeas at 232 calories vs. the eggs' 155 is not nothing but not huge. Lentils at 164 calories is a wash to me. In Victoria BC, beautiful weather now seems to have settled in. I am resuming regular walks — Nordic walking — and it will be a week or two to get back full walk energy. Today only 3.3 mph (at least better than 3.0 mph, which is where "brisk walk" begins), with a cadence of 108 steps/minute, averaged over the 27-minute walk.
When I get back in the swing of it, I walk at 3.5 mph, 110 steps/minute, for 45-50 minutes.
Anyone well-versed enough in cardiology or #fitness science to tell me if this distribution is good, OK, or bad? I went for a 5K run and this was my heart rate over the 29 minutes or so. In case it matters, my resting heart rate is in the low-to-mid-50s. #running
Training app: "You are doing a bit too much". Well it's not my fault today is the first 20C+ day of the year and I had to go out in it. Now 2 days of rest, with tomorrow being showers. It all works out in the end. #cycling#fitness
I did an hour long run today. It was at a training pace, so relatively comfortable, but my legs are letting me know they're not quite used to this distance again yet.
Still, it feels great to be getting back some of what I lost! Going out for a long run, and just enjoying the outside, the motion, the people, the animals... Even the sweat... I've missed it! #running#training#fitness
Had to cut my run short today because I pulled a muscle in my right calf. It started to bother me at km 3 and just before km 8 I had to stop because of the pain. Hopefully some rest will fix it.
Do you know how long should I rest? I can move normally, though it's a bit painful
Participated in the #HamletPark#parkrun this morning. My goal at the beginning of the year was to complete in 30:00. Today I had a PB of 32:22. My first time this year was 48:42. My weight this morning was 232 lbs, down from 296 on 11/26. #fitby60#fitness#running
