I dunno about you but I’m not interested in the #Apple#Vision until there’s a mod for the Apple video conference avatars that gives everyone big floppy dick nipples.
Our favorite animals are deer 💛 ~ Nazaré, Portugal 🇵🇹 The name of this town and the presence of deer is not coincidental! In the second photo, the deer ducked its head before I had time to focus and take the picture. 😅
I am doing a public outreach event today. Somehow the swag shipment didn’t get mailed, so I was told to raid the old education office to see what we have.
'A George Mason University scientist and team of researchers developed a new camera system that allows ecologists and filmmakers to produce videos that accurately replicate the colors that different animals see in natural settings, according to a report in the open access journal PLOS Biology.'
Don't know why we have a double checkmark in the Mastodon Advanced Web Interface in the Notficatins column. As someone who takes reading glasses on and off it makes me reach for my eyeglasses even though I’m wearing them. Sort of silly and very distracting. #Mastodon#eyeglasses#vision#UI
Me and tins of sardines... 😆 This photo I took on my cheapest film, unfortunately in low light it resorts to golden colors, which is interesting in its own way. Canned sardines are very popular in Portugal.
Reflect on the decisions made today: How did they align with your core values and long-term visions? Did you experience a moment that called for patience or persistence in pursuit of your goals?
Today calls for resilience in the face of transitions. The atmosphere is ripe for navigating shifts and embracing new structures that contribute to long-term success. Challenges may arise, but with determination and a clear vision, they can be transformed into stepping stones towards professional growth.
Reflect on your intentions and the expansive actions you took today. Were you true to your vision, and how did it align with reality? Consider the gains made and lessons learned that can inform tomorrow’s endeavors.
I don't share work stuff on here often. But here we go. We've just published a paper showing how a computational model of early visual areas can help understand why animal warning signal patterns are...well.....spotty, stripy and colourful.
Acute exposure to 500-lux artificial light at night alters the expression of #genes in retinal cells involved in signaling pathways linked to cellular stress and inflammation;
Chronic exposure to #ALAN causes changes in both scotopic and photopic retinal sensitivity; and
ALAN exposure "impairs visual function in the long term, linked to retinal degeneration "which can lead to #vision loss."
