I dunno about you but I’m not interested in the until there’s a mod for the Apple video conference avatars that gives everyone big floppy dick nipples.

Our favorite animals are deer 💛 ~ Nazaré, Portugal 🇵🇹 The name of this town and the presence of deer is not coincidental! In the second photo, the deer ducked its head before I had time to focus and take the picture. 😅

According to some surveys, blue is people's favorite color. Or colors? How many names for blue are there in your language?

I am doing a public outreach event today. Somehow the swag shipment didn’t get mailed, so I was told to raid the old education office to see what we have.

I found the neatest booklets https://sservi.nasa.gov/books/

They are books - with and 3D pages. If there are @edutooters here looking neat stuff for or folks — these are really cool.

I attach some images which don’t adequately show embossing.

Don't know why we have a double checkmark in the Mastodon Advanced Web Interface in the Notficatins column. As someone who takes reading glasses on and off it makes me reach for my eyeglasses even though I’m wearing them. Sort of silly and very distracting.

Why can we humans see more colors than our pets? It all comes down to one molecule. Science Alert reports: https://flip.it/uCcYyk

Josh suppressed a laugh. He felt lighter as he hiked back, which was funny because he probably was lighter.

The friend who'd dropped him off at the edge of the forest was back to pick him up. "So, how was your quest?"

"It wasn't a vision quest. That would be inappropriate."

"Just you, a knife, one match, and no food for three days in the woods? Sounds like a vision quest to me. Did you have a vision?"

Sliding into the passenger seat, Josh suppressed another laugh.

Me and tins of sardines... 😆 This photo I took on my cheapest film, unfortunately in low light it resorts to golden colors, which is interesting in its own way. Canned sardines are very popular in Portugal.

I don't share work stuff on here often. But here we go. We've just published a paper showing how a computational model of early visual areas can help understand why animal warning signal patterns are...well.....spotty, stripy and colourful.

A French study in a found that:

  1. Acute exposure to 500-lux artificial light at night alters the expression of in retinal cells involved in signaling pathways linked to cellular stress and inflammation;

  2. Chronic exposure to causes changes in both scotopic and photopic retinal sensitivity; and

  3. ALAN exposure "impairs visual function in the long term, linked to retinal degeneration "which can lead to loss."
