I’m doing a watercolour course where one of the challenges is to do a landscape painting in ten brushstrokes or less. This is the result and I honestly love it.
Watercolour. A thin intrusion of mafic basalt running through felsic Lewisian gneiss. The two rock types, with their different mineral content, have strikingly different lichen communities. From Raasay, NW Scotland. A second, and probably final, sketch of this - I have some other interesting rocks to try...
With love from me to you - Inspired by a heart-shaped sunflower I spotted in a sunflower field, I painted this small floral still life using watercolors in bright tones of yellow, orange, red, green, teal, blue, pink and purple.
I haven't posted one of my watercolor sketches in a while. Here's one from last weekend at Grand Portage National Monument in northern Minnesota.
This is a brand new sketchbook. It's a Handbook Journal Co. Artist Watercolor Sketchbook Journal, 8.25 x 5.5 Inches, 95lb 200 GSM paper. I like the paper better than the Moleskine watercolor book I just finished.
We had our first quiet Saturday in a long time. This afternoon we made some time for art and creativity! @dohappybelove did the watercolor painting and @seanbala made a long-stitch book. The inside of Sean's book was made from an old calendar that we had lying around.
I know it is spring outside, but I was in the mood for some warm fall colors this week. So here is my latest handmade watercolor painting 'Small grove'. Enjoy!
