It is like clock work, always the same lies: The Israeli military suspects that munitions or some other combustible substance caused a secondary explosion and subsequent fire at a complex housing displaced Gazans in Rafah, following an airstrike aimed at two top Hamas assets.

The incident resulted in the deaths of Palestinian civilians, and an investigation is ongoing.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had been tracking Hamas commanders Yassin Rabia and Khaled Najjar prior to the strike on the compound in the Tel Sultan neighborhood in western Rafah on Sunday night. According to intelligence, the area had been utilized for Hamas activities, including a nearby rocket launcher.

The military clarified that the strike occurred outside the designated “humanitarian zone” in the al-Mawasi region, which is over a kilometer away from the targeted compound. Steps were taken to ensure no civilians, particularly women and children, were present in the Hamas compound at the time of the attack.

Israeli fighter jets employed two small munitions, each carrying a 17-kilogram warhead, to minimize the risk of civilian casualties due to the proximity to the camp for displaced Palestinians.

Initial investigations by the IDF indicate that the two small missiles alone would not have been sufficient to ignite the fire. The probe suggests that ammunition, weapons, or other materials stored in the vicinity may have caused a secondary explosion and the resulting fire.

The U.S. is closely monitoring the probe into a deadly Israeli airstrike it called tragic, but it said the recent deaths in Rafah didn't constitute a major ground operation there that crosses any red lines. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2024/05/29/world/politics/us-rafah-deaths-israel/

This is how we won a lot of anti-LGBT ballot initiatives over the past few decades: keeping them from ever qualifying for the ballot.

Keeping them off the ballot keeps them from being money-makers, win or lose. These things are cash machines for the Christian authoritarians, fundamentalists, and fash, but they don't rake in the real bucks until the fall campaigns.

And if they can't make money at it, they tend to go off and find some other way to do it.

Lon Mabon, who made a career out of torturing queer people with public hate and initiative campaigns, built a whole family business out of it. And it worked great until we started keeping him off ballot.

Now he sells BBQ sauce.

Obviously if you’re in a safe non-Tory then you can vote for who you like but in marginals and even in relatively safe seats, might be your best option.

Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza:

In light of the ongoing and expanding brutal "israeli" incursion in Rafah Governorate, and its deliberate targeting of numerous hospitals and primary care centers in the governorate, which has caused severe damage, the martyrdom of several health workers, and difficulty for citizens to access these facilities, the situation has led to the initial shutdown of Abu Youssef Al-Najjar Hospital, Abu Al-Walid Central Clinic, Rafah Field Hospital (2), and Kuwait Specialty Hospital.

As a result of the continued deliberate violations by the occupation against health institutions, with the targeting of the Indonesian Field Hospital last night and the bombing of the area around Tel Al-Sultan Clinic:

We note the shutdown of both the Indonesian Field Hospital and Tal Sultan Clinic in Rafah Governorate, leaving only Tal Al-Sultan Maternity Hospital struggling to continue providing services to patients in Rafah Governorate.

We reaffirm our call to all international and UN institutions to provide protection for all hospitals, health workers, and ambulances from the oppression and arrogance of the Israeli occupation.
