Fake Intelligence is where we try to simulate intelligence by feeding huge amounts of dubious information to algorithms we don’t fully understand to create approximations of human behaviour where the safeguards that moderate the real thing provided by family, community, culture, personal responsibility, reputation, and ethics are replaced by norms that satisfy the profit motive of corporate entities.
A few absolute shockers in the list of websites the Washington Post has revealed are used to train Google's generative AI tools. Apparently including the likes of 4Chan, Breitbart, and RT.
From WaPo:
"Meanwhile, we found several media outlets that rank low on NewsGuard’s independent scale for trustworthiness: RT.com No. 65, the Russian state-backed propaganda site; breitbart.com No. 159, a well-known source for far-right news and opinion; and vdare.com No. 993, an anti-immigration site that has been associated with white supremacy.
"The top Christian site, Grace to You (gty.org No. 164), belongs to Grace Community Church, an evangelical megachurch in California. Christianity Today recently reported that the church counseled women to 'continue to submit' to abusive fathers and husbands and to avoid reporting them to authorities."
This reflects back the human developers are…not good. Who builds a simulated lethal system w/zero safety interlocks? They shouldn’t be allowed to code a toaster oven. Wtaf USAF.

I worked hard on some 3D artwork. Now I'm going to publish it on social media and enjoy the likes and responses. 😊

I worked hard on some 3D artwork. Before it will be ready to publish, I need to make a compilation of work-in-progress screenshots and wireframes, to prove that it's not AI-generated, and to avoid people asking what AI prompt I used to generate the image. 😖😖
Twitter's blue checkmark system had something to do with it; those users were suspended, and the #stockmarket took a big dive as a result of the incident.
Is there anyone reading this who could give a talk on "Math(s) and Artificial Intelligence"?
It would need to be aimed at a general audience, so while the material itself doesn't need to be deep, the person giving the talk would need to have some first-hand experience of the actual math(s) that's involved.
Anyone?
If you're comfortable doing so, please boost for reach ... Mastodon-the-platform relies on networking effects.
The rapid AI developments still give me mixed feelings of excitement and disappointment.
Excitement because I'm a graphics and tech lover, disappointment because AI-generated stuff doesn't give me the positive feeling I get when seeing something that was actually crafted by a person.
The C-suite is ripe to be supplanted by AI: Corporations run by bunch of technocrats educated at decent “flyover” state schools using AI decision support systems will make far better short- and long-term economic decisions than the super-expensive Ivy League Old Boys Club ever has, at far lower cost, with far more interchangeability. Eventually board members will recognize this; the celebrity C-suite is living on borrowed time. #business#artificialintelligence
