I think that eventually people will start turning over their finances to AI, and it will be so obviously successful that it will be impossible to stop the movement to do the same with the federal budget. That's when we get UBI.

Amazon is filled with garbage ebooks, often a result of keyword scrapers finding trending topics, and then so-called publishers using AI and cheap ghostwriters to generate books. "If, as they used to say, everyone has a book in them, AI has created a world where tech utopianists dream openly about excising the human part of writing a book — any amount of artistry or craft or even just sheer effort — and replacing it with machine-generated streams of text," writes Vox's Constance Grady. Here's her story about the underbelly of online self-publishing.

There 'will come a time where no job is needed'; is the 'most disruptive force in history" In th future, 'you can have a job if you want a job . . . but AI will be able to do everything'.

As with so many Musk has a hard time imagining jobs that are not or mechanical... here is a man who must be sociopathic in his absence of any consideration of the value & necessity of human contact in so many socio-economic activities.

A sad man!

All of these creative professionals slipping into AI systems with far too much confidence, hoping for an edge. I wonder how much money AI makers are spending on social-media influencers to post those “don’t get left behind” posts.

Designers, UXers, and all creatives. I’m getting paid by no one to tell you that you’re talented and capable without AI. Your career doesn’t depend on using it. It’s fun but it’s not our future.

AI-drafted police reports will absolutely result in mistakes enshrined as facts.

This will permanently impact peoples' lives & freedom.

Google News keeps throwing spoiler articles in my face. I keep marking "Fewer like this." It throws even more at me.

News throws celebrity gossip at me. I mark it "Fewer like this." It throws even more at me.

Seriously, anyone who thinks "AI" is a positive future is delusional.

I wrote a thing about for a local newsletter with a few thousand subscribers. So I kept it as non-technical as possible for that audience. I should say, after 35 years in the technology sector, I am a tech journalist/writer - not an AI scientist or programmer. Companies have hired me in the past to ‘explain’ complex tech, so let me know if I got this right. There’s a second, more technical post coming that explores the evolution of AI through neural networks to machine learning & intelligence. Hey, it’s the topic of the day, how could I not write about it? That’s kinda what I do. 1/2

It’s not really useful to talk about and robot overlords when discussing the dangers of because that’s not what we have to worry about, at least not for a while yet.

It is much more useful to talk about the concept of which is when systems codified by law and regulation squeeze people into destitution and death. See also “social murder.”

I'm a PhD biologist and I read @OpenAI's threat preparedness assessment plan for CBRN threats. It appears to be total nonsense designed without any input from a scientist. Here's why:

We really need a different term than ‘AI’ to describe private, on-device machine learning that benefits individuals but (a) doesn’t violate anyone’s privacy, (b) doesn’t destroy the environment and, (c) doesn’t enrich smug Silicon Valley tech douchebros like Sam Altman.

After AI-generated porn of Taylor Swift spread on Twitter, the issue finally got more attention — but it’s much bigger than celebrities.

On #TechWontSaveUs, I spoke to @kattenbarge about how deepfake nudes are wreaking havoc in women’s lives.
