I’d like to stop working in graphic design, so I am currently searching for something more technical. The objective is finding a job in which I can be more comfortable.

I thought about and Does anyone has some advise about where to start?

Or any ideas how to convert to something less creative?

I do like data Visualization, but not how much are people hired in this field.

📢 New blog post! Contrary to traditional software development, data is more important than code in . The data labelling part, in particular. Here's a look how can help quickly fix datasets: https://col.la/mlfixds

v2.7 is out! I added slice and surface pressure visualization modes, both much requested. This was 1 day of programming for me! 🖖😁
The video is a 25M cell in real time, featuring the new modes. Have fun! 🖖😎

Ahh I've been so excited for this paper to come out for ages!! No affiliation, just think it's super cool:

"Collection Space Navigator" for exploring projections of visual art collections

Honestly, when I first saw this, it wasn't the art applications that intrigued me so much as the value it offers for understanding 'slices' through high-dimensional space.

Demo: https://collection-space-navigator.github.io/CSN/

Website: https://collection-space-navigator.github.io/

Animated gif showing a user interacting with the Collection Space Navigator dashboard. Clicking and then hovering over a histogram highlights only a small subset of paintings in a UMAP projection, while the rest are greyed out. Scrubbing along the histograms shows how different principle components "slice" through the high-dimensional space.

(1/2) Shiny for Python :ablobcatenjoy:

Posit announced this week that the Shiny 🐍 version is moving out from alpha stage to general availability. The Shiny package is one of the great tools in R for building interactive and complex dashboards without or knowledge. It has a HUGE ecosystem, mainly due to community contribution, and it is great to see it expanding to the Python community.

Lining up a new project for this year's Wooly Fair in Providence, which will likely be a massive (8' tall?) pixelated lamb where each pixel is a discrete LED panel (3"x3" or so), perhaps touch-sensitive for color changing. This should be a fun one!

Looking for community and hope, way off the ill-fated beaten path.

Used to work in a video store. Never was on the birdsite. Tired of bots, trolls, ads, and games of musical deck chairs.

May be a giant broke-ass loser who fails at most everything, but at least I'm not a jerk.
