Despite the -4F temperature last night I took the opportunity to shoot some and friends. Here is the planetary nebula Messier 97 with the galaxy Messier 108. They make a nice pair.

My Tesla vehicle won't charge
Because it's too cold outside they say
It's been sitting here in parking lot
All Sunday, Monday, and today

Supercharge me fast, the car told me
So I drove it here oh so very quick
Then its lights went out, the screen went dead
The batteries won't charge, not even one lick

They said--we'll save the world, sent rockets to space!
Teslas are the future! See us on Mars!
But I think, we're grounded here, because as you can see
That billionaire's car has zero charging bars!

Pt.3/3
Knowing the breed and health of your dog plays a huge roll in their tolerance for these cold temperatures. For instance:

❄️ Sammy, my 2yr old Saint Bernard. She was also built for this weather. She has a thick undercoat to keep her warm, she's young and full of energy. This cold and snow doesn't phase her one bit and she could comfortably spend a lot of time outside with no issues.

Pt.2/3
Knowing the breed and health of your dog plays a huge roll in their tolerance for these cold temperatures. For instance:

❄️ Murdock, my almost 3yr old Great Dane. He loves the snow but with super short hair and no undercoat he can only tolerate about 5-10 minutes in 20° weather even with his coat on.

Pt.1/3
Knowing the breed and health of your pet plays a huge roll in their tolerance for these cold temperatures. For instance:

❄️ Bowie, my 4yr old St. Bernard. This weather she was built for! However she does have arthritis in both her hips, limiting the amount of time she can be outside comfortably before it could cause her to be in pain.

⚠️HYPOTHERMIA⚠️
Depending on your dogs or even cats breed, the cold can be extremely dangerous and can become deadly very quickly.

Learning the signs of isn't the only important thing though, also educating yourself on how safely to treat your pet if they have hypothermia. Do your research. It could save your pets life 💙

Is it just me, or are others seeing their VMs periodically freeze on VMWare Pro? It's happening regularly enough that I'm wondering what the hell is going on. I thought it was related to keyboard shortcuts for copy-and-paste between host and VM, but now it's happening at random. I can force a reboot of the VM, but I can't direct any input to it via mouse/keyboard. Am I alone or are others seeing this?

Object of my this week? . I'm not even going to rant about their main control boards; most of that's been said better than I could say it, by others with more knowledge than I.

I'm ranting about .

Ages ago, furnaces had one in them, to spin the that moves air through your house.

cazabon,

The air rises to the ceiling, and the air pools at floor level. Without all the drafts and leaks to stir the air up, this means that your feel even if the room is nominally the right temperature.

(2) went down. No more fresh air coming in around every window and door and half a dozen other places in each room.

To help mitigate this, one solution is to keep the furnace fan all the time, not just when it's actually producing heat.

we just ended our cornfest 2023. Our total ears of brought to the table from the this season was 197. This is not bad but our third planting ended up a little disappointing because I did not manage to feed the last row of corn enough for a variety of reasons, but lesson is learned for next year! (If I count the 4 ears the squirrels stole we grew 201 ears) Oh, yes, we also have several tons of (lost count)

A wooden harvesting basket containing several ears of sweetcorn. One of the ears is partially husked showing the neat rows of yellow and white kernels.

@levampyre @richrollgardener My family freezes sweetcorn. Cook the ears as usual, then cut off from the cob when it’s cool enough to handle. Freeze in quart bags on sheet pans so they lay flat and are stackable later. Not quite as good as fresh from the field, but worlds better than a bag from the store
(I just wish I had an effective freezer container that didn’t involve single use plastics)
