A couple of weeks ago I finished a beast of a project.
The interactive installation (titled InStability) is an artistic endeavor to demonstrate how seismic stations in Iceland detect earthquakes.
Visitors are invited to touch the map, triggering "earthquakes", and observe how LEDs, representing seismic and GPS stations, light up as the seismic waves propagate across Reykjanes peninsula.
Putin's henchmen jam GPS of civilian aircraft. The GPS-jammer affecting aircrafts around Estonia is located in Russia, about halfway to St Petersburg from Narva, Estonia.
This can be shown by plotting the highest density of intersecting radio horizons of jammed aircrafts on a map.
GPS-jammer operating around Estonia and recently famous for causing the brand new Helsinki - Tartu flight line to cease operating.
Putin will bring down another jet. This monster must be detained. #Hague
Allies across Europe and Asia should not look indifferently at Putin's Russian criminals jamming of the #GPS signal and thereby endangering international air traffic.

Baltic foreign ministers have warned that the suspected Russian jamming of GPS systems aboard commercial flights is "too dangerous to ignore." This comes after it was revealed that two Finnish aircraft were forced to turn around mid-journey in recent days.
Reading about #gps#jamming . I get the “louder than the satellite” part, but shouldn’t there be some kind of cryptographic signature or something that lets you distinguish which is which, and some kind of token to guard against replay attacks? Is there? Maybe only in the encrypted US military version? (Guessing wildly…)
🗺️ Is there an app that keeps track of where you’ve walked on a map, so you can seek out streets you haven’t been down yet? Sort of a gamification of exploring one’s neighborhood (or someone else’s while traveling).
EDIT: Looks like https://citystrides.com/ is exactly what I was asking for. Also, Personal Heatmap in Strava subscription may work too. Thanks, everyone!
A plane flying from #Helsinki#Finland to #Tartu#Estonia, couldn't land at the Tartu airport on the night of Friday due to #GPS interference from #Russia and returned to Helsinki.
"We are witnessing a historic process -- Russians are leaving for the first time in two centuries," independent Azerbaijani analyst Elhan Shahinoglu told AFP.
About 46,000 aircraft in total have logged problems with #GPS over the #BalticSea in the same time period, the Sun reported, based on analysis of flight logs with the website GPSJAM.org.
Oooh! I've just picked up a NavIC satellite while in London.
I'm used to picking up Chinese, Russian, and EU GPS - but I think this is the first time I've seen an Indian one.
C-V2X communication requires very precise timing so that transmitting devices can find and use their transmission time slot. We rely on GPS time for this.
I decided to treat myself by buying a new satnav for the car. My car doesn't have a satnav built-in, which with hindsight is a good thing.
The new model is a Garmin DriveSmart 76. My main reason for upgrading was to get lifetime map updates, which are installed via WiFi, directly onto the satnav (no PC needed). For me this is a major benefit, as otherwise map updates require a Garmin app running on Mac or Windows. The new unit will replace a Garmin Nuvi 65 LM.
"Blogger Markus Johnson published a map of aircraft with jammed navigation on 15 and 16 March, claiming that at least 873 aircraft had their navigation jammed in that period."
Jamming #GPS signals from #Kaliningrad has become routine in what is meant to appear has rehearsal for an invasion of #Poland and #Lithuania. This is not a #War in some far away place.
#GNSS Safety Improvements such as #Galileo's Navigation Message Authentication should be adopted faster, with GPS interference levels on the rise in Europe.
Interesting footage from Victor Alegre, an A330 capitain at Iberia Airlines, experiencing #GNSS interference.

At first comment IRS Position and GPS Position at same time: 1 degree error Latitude, 2 degrees error Longitude, 34.000 ft Altitude error causing GPWS PULL UP.
The Flight Management Guidance Envelope Computer (which can disable GNSS inputs) thinks the aircraft is too low, causing pull up warnings.
