Da es tatsächlich so aussieht, als wäre die Entwicklung und Pflege der Firefish-Software am Ende, habe ich die Registrierung für Accounts eingestellt. Ich werde hier auch meine Aktivitäten vorerst stilllegen.
Wer mir weiterhin folgen möchte, kann dies mit meinem Misskey-Account @pepecyb tun. Meine Aktivitäten werde ich dorthin verlagern. Die FirefishTalk Gruppe lasse ich noch einige Zeit bestehen.
Ich lasse diese Instanz noch eine Weile online, weil ich irgendwie noch auf ein Wunder hoffe.

I actually had a #misskey account a while back, but I think I was on a bit of a sleepy instance and focused on #Mastodon. I do miss the longer posts & neat features of misskey/calckey though, so giving this another try - maybe for longer posts.

Misskey Io, the official Misskey instance (which is suspended on some servers) is experiencing an influx of active users and new users. They had to close registrations because there is too many Japanese users looking for an alternative to Twitter.
It seems that several fediverse servers (apparently all #Misskey?) are used to register accounts, in order to spam in japanese, advertising dDoS services.
After rewatching this video of #ElonMusk melting down, I realize that the #Fediverse may have a new problem: 300 million #Twitter migrants seeking out new home.
If you are on a #Mastodon, #Misskey, #Pleroma, #Pixelfed, etcetera instance, you might want to consider sending some funds to the site owner (& Fediverse platform creators) as they will need it sooner rather than later.
I expect the cost of instances to increase further once #Threads embraces #ActivityPub.
Ich habe vorhin mal ein wenig mit #Sharkey herum gestestet, ich fand es bisher .. leider enttäuschend.
Verglichen mit #Firefish fühlt es sich wie ein (teilweise erhebliches) Downgrade an. Das ist schade, denn die Idee, eng am #Misskey Code zu bleiben, ist natürlich gut! Es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall, das weiter zu beobachten. :)
Ich werde mir als nächstes wohl #IceShrimp ansehen. Das ist eine Weiterentwicklung bzw eher Stabilisierung von #Firefish 1.0.3. Die Devs wollen fixen was da ist und gebraucht wird, anstatt auf immer neue Features zu setzen. Dürfte mir deutlich besser passen, aber es kann halt irgendwann auch "den selben Tod sterben", wie offenbar Firefish gerade: Zu wenige Devs.
Na mal schauen. Im Moment schnurrt meine Firefish Instanz ja, also keine Eile von Nöten. 🙂

Excited about all the stuff on #Misskey, apparently it didn't start out as fediverse and has tons of it's own special stuff you won't see in your own (incompatible) instance.
Buuut....I can see posts and follow people and that's all I care about! It's crazy how well this stuff works. And you don't need to know how for it to work. Feels really special in a way the web hasn't since RSS or so. Actual interoperability, what I always wanted since the algo period began.
What started the #misskey migration anyway? Seems to have grown pretty fast. Did Japanese Twitter finally get tired of the muskrat's bs or is it unrelated?
