I took a damp and foggy walk around Surprise View and Bolehill this morning, and this shot is from the first location.
I very much expected the heather to be well past its best by now, but there was a wonderful amount of purple still around. Combined with the rich greens of the leaves and grass, and soft silver of the mist and bark, it makes for a very pleasing colour palette.
This is one of my absolute stunners. I have it also printed on my wall here. Everything was perfect that day. Truly one of the best things that could happen to me

Antichi mestieri siciliani ormai scomparsi: Il Banditore
Il Bando era un annuncio di interesse pubblico che veniva letto per le vie della città ad alta voce dal “ Banditore “, che era preceduto da squilli di tromba o da rulli di tamburo. Da qui prese il nome
il termine siciliano “ abbanniari “ che va inteso come comunicazione ad alta voce per quanto concerne la vendita di un prodotto.
I Bandi erano Reali, Vicereali, del Senato, della Commissione di Salute Pubblica, etc.
Il cittadino, molto spesso non capiva il nesso delle nuove leggi, quindi non ne teneva conto.
Il Banditore iniziava ad elencare il nome dell’Autorità che lo promulgava, accompagnato dai molteplici titoli nobiliari e dopo una lunga dettagliata esposizione dei fatti ai quali si intendeva porre rimedio, “ ordinava, provvedeva e comandava “ il preciso rispetto delle norme e disposizioni elencando un lungo e dettagliato elenco delle pene che sarebbero state inflitte ai trasgressori.
