I have been building browsers for 30 years now. First Opera and now Vivaldi. My estimate is that more than 1 billion have used one of my browsers or both. Have you?

Feel free to share your story!

It is official, @Vivaldi have included advertisment into your address-bar suggestions. This is opt-out, so it is enabled by default and is triggered only after two characters in your address-bar.

For me, the address-bar in a browser is like terminal in Linux, what I type is sensitive and should not be cluttered with advert and junk. crossed a big red line here. Having advert in favorites and quickdial is one thing, having advert in address-bar is another.

Last week i used Vivaldi exclusively on Windows,Linux and iPhone and this week spent back on Brave and while i like their (Braves) privacy features and believe they offer more in this regard than Vivaldi their crypto focus is a big annoyance of mine.

So today went back to Vivaldi and one major annoyance really is how adress url autocomplete works so the upcoming 6.2 update should adress that and can´t come soon enough.

And no reader view on iPhone yet in Beta. Submitted a FR for it through TF feedback but im assuming it will come at some point. Oh, and sync of search engines does not work but hopefully it is also being worked on.
But Vivaldi on iPhone is shaping up quite nicely

And secondly why is there no merch shop in EU? 😅 I´d be happy to support with a purchase. But shipping and tax to get anything into Sweden from USA is a bit too much for me. Your HQ is next door (country wise) so not having shipping within EU is a bummer.

One day after launching Vivaldi on iOS, Vivaldi is the top iPad app in Norway and #5 on iPhones. Not a bad start at all. We are on the list in many other countries as well.

Make sure to share the great news with all your friends! @Vivaldi is now available!

I had a survey where I asked users on Mastodon which Vivaldi products and services they are using. This is the result:

83% Vivaldi on Windows, Mac & Linux.
65% Vivaldi on mobile
56% Vivaldi sync
39% Vivaldi Social (Mastodon)
13% Vivaldi Forums
9% Vivaldi Blogs
1% Vivaldi Automotive

11% used none of the Vivaldi products and services.

724 responded.

It is great to see how many are using Vivaldi across devices and sync. Vivaldi is one of the few browsers that offers browsers on all major OS and the only browser to do that and provide the browser in cars as well.

It is also great to see how many are using the different Vivaldi services. We are happy to provide ways for our community to engage and to support the Fediverse!

If you wonder what Vivaldi is, the best way to figure that out is to download it from vivaldi.com.

Sepsal jsem důvody, proč si myslím, že by měl Firefox dostal zase šanci. Ať už od těch, kteří ho v minulosti opustili, nebo od těch, kteří ho nikdy ani nezkusili.

I know people complain about @Vivaldi being not fully open and being based on , but you just can't beat when it comes to features. I read a lot on the Internet, but sometimes I just don't have the time to do it right now. Vivaldi has an integrated which I can just add my current page to with relative ease. To make it easier, I created a to add the current tab to the Reading List and then close it. I put that chain on my toolbar with a custom icon.

There’s no perfect browser. They have to make money and no one wants to charge/pay for products. So we pay with our privacy.

I’m trying @Vivaldi because they’re a top candidate for browsing privacy.

But I didn’t know how much I’d love this browser. Especially their “workspaces” feature. It’s a productivity masterpiece. They also have a built-in translation widget. Two really meaningful features.

I'm forced to use Windows 11 for my work computer, and I can't honestly say without looking what my default browser is. I have , , and of course Edge because it's pushed by corporate. I solve most of my problems by just not closing my browser. Ever. Occasionally Windows "helpfully" puts Edge into my taskbar for me and I helpfully delete it as soon as I see it. Still, this is beyond the pale. If Microsoft won't stop doing it, the courts should stop them.

Since last night I'm giving #vivaldi browser a try. So far great experience, uses much less memory than FF, integrated RSS reader, vertial tabs by default and side panels are a real plus.

Is it still true that Vivaldi is owned by their employees?

At @Vivaldi we focus on the browser, but we also provide a few free services. What parts of Vivaldi are you using?

If you have not tried Vivaldi yet, a download at Vivaldi.com will get you started

I am excited and honored to announce that I am now an official Ambassador for the @Vivaldi web browser!

This is a browser I've been using for about 8 months now and absolutely love everything about the browser itself as well as the team that makes it and the community they have built.

I couldn't be happier to endorse a browser that works as great and as quick as Vivaldi!

Except that they're generally totally awesome, unlike the AOL/Usenet culture clash.

So I've been messing with browsers for a while, and I think I've finally decided on Vivaldi. 😎

Yay for Profiles that work well because all my sanity is based on splitting up all the projects into profiles. I also like that I don't have to give up my favourite Chrome extensions. Panels are useful too.

Fascinating to see how they've built Mastodon in. I like the prompts they push out over the first few days for onboarding. :blobcatthinking:

We at @Vivaldi continue to be the only browser company all in on Mastodon and the Fediverse.

We have made our own instance, Vivaldi Social. Any user that has a Vivaldi account for sync or other services, can easily enable a presence on Vivaldi Social.

We have integrated Mastodon as a Web panel into Vivaldi.

We include links to Vivaldi Social into Vivaldi.

We also work on integrating our blogs and forums into the Fediverse.

We hope others will follow. Mozilla has talked a lot and we hope they will join us fully soon.

This month it is 30 years since I started working on browsers. April 1994 is when Geir and I started working on the Opera browser. We founded the company a year later.

Initially I made the UI, while Geir did a lot of the core.

Since that time I have dedicated myself to making the Web live up to its potential. First at Opera and now at Vivaldi.

If you ever used Opera and you have not tried Vivaldi, I invite you to give us a try!

If you never used Opera or Vivaldi, you are invited as well!
