I don't think anyone understands the gravity of my situation
If I don't find a way to cover this I'll be forced to go back to my home country. We can't even afford a plane ticket, I legally cannot work on the Visa I currently hold.

I'm enjoying #mastodon more and more every day. Compared to #bluesky, which only provides a limited amount of features, this instance has granular control of the algorithmic impact of my own posts, explicit opt-in read receipts, and even mini-picture reactions! (I'm still holding out for #memoji support)
The biggest social media transformation is happening in our lives right now, and we shouldn't waste it on inferior platforms who are holding out features and ignoring their principles.
I hope that this trend continues to push out industry forward into making better software, for humans!
Mastodon should allow uploading and posting images when creating polls so the poll can have a visual representation of what the poll is trying to survey.
@simon I tend to just upload images without adding alternative text to the images. I am going to make a better effort to adding ALT text to images on Mastodon.

Schwerpunkt der Sprechstunde wird der Umzug des Kontos zu einer anderen Instanz sein.
Eingeladen sind ebenfalls alle, die bereits Erfahrungen mit Mastodon haben und gern ihr Wissen weitergeben wollen.
Wissensaustausch: Deine Kenntnisse im Fediverse und auf Mastodon könnte anderen Teilnehmern sehr nützlich sein, insbesondere denjenigen, die noch neu in der Community sind.
Networking: Dies ist eine hervorragende Gelegenheit, sich mit anderen engagierten Mitgliedern der Gemeinschaft zu vernetzen und neue Kontakte zu knüpfen.

Der Raum wird 10 Minuten vor Beginn geöffnet.
Das Online-Treffen wird auf unserem BigBlueButton-Server stattfinden. Du benötigst keine zusätzliche Software, sondern nur einen Browser – vorzugsweise Firefox oder Chrome –, ein Mikrofon (es handelt sich schließlich um eine Sprechstunde) und, wenn du möchtest, eine Webcam. Wir freuen uns auf einen lebhaften Austausch! 🎙️ 🙋♀️
Die Sprechstunde läuft ungefähr so ab. Am Anfang geben alle Tipps und Hinweise für Anfänger und Beginner. Später geht es um Tipps und Hinweise für Instanzbetreiber und Moderatoren. So ein Austausch ist wichtig und notwendig für eine gute Vernetzung untereinander. Es wird nicht ausschließlich um Mastodon gehen. Die Welt von Fediverse ist weitaus größer. Mehr miteinander, als gegeneinander.

@derPUPE@EU_Commission@EDPS But why should you have to do that? No one who works at the EU Commission (or EDPS or the European Parliament, etc.) works for free and this isn’t about lack of budget. If you were to do that, you should be paid a fair wage.
Is there a #Mastodon instance dedicated to amateur #running? Races, training, etc.
I need to get some thoughts and opinions on training and racing out of my head. I could post them here, but this instance is primarily dedicated to Free Software. Most of my followers are probably either expecting posts related to that or cybersecurity, math, science, cryptography, etc. IE, not running.
Posting to a fitness-dedicated instance probably makes the most sense. Or setting up a blog.
It is pretty cool to see all the different forks of major fediverse platforms. Just learning about Chuckya, a "soft fork" of glitch-soc, which itself is a fork of Mastodon.

My call-out to 2 Nazis were removed by my instance. Any naivety about #Mastodon is now buried deep. I had to leave my previous instance due to its antissemitic policy, and this past week antissemitism and xenophobia just run wild across the #Fediverse without consequence. Jewish lives don't matter here, if you defend the extermination of an entire country that's fine as long as it's #Israel.
Mastodon is as full of hate as any other social media.

Currently working on a solution but it’s taking some time and I’m wondering if anyone else has attempted it. Haven’t had luck with things like IFTTT yet either.
@SynAck@twop0intfive I have a wild quick and dirty idea if you use OBS. You can embed websites in your scenes, and one could create a script that automatically sends a post when a specific scene starts. :D
@revengeday@SynAck my current setup doesn’t utilize OBS unfortunately as I don’t have a gaming pc at this time; I’d mostly be streaming games to platforms like YouTube, twitch, perhaps even TikTok? direct from my console (PS5/XSS — or, in case of TikTok, via Win11 vm in azure, in which case I could utilize OBS). But this is good to have for the future, or perhaps my son (who Does have a gaming pc) could make use of it!
