I hope everyone enjoyed the festive season and here in the UK, are counting the minutes of daylight gained each day...
I don't take many landscape images as I've not got the skill nor patience, but I had to capture the serenity of a still day looking across the Beauly Firth the other day.
At sunrise in the Florida Everglades, a calm stillness prevails, occasionally broken by the sounds of waking wildlife. Mist rises from the water, adding a touch of mystery to the marshy landscape as the sun casts warm hues over the scene.
Not sure I am ready for this, but it could be just days away. The snow last winter in New Mexico was beautiful. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains at the end of the Rocky Mountains were blanket in heavy snow. A winter like we hadn't seen in awhile. You ready for some snow?
Evening all I hope you've had a good day today ? Calling it a night, been a long day. I've been reviewing this year. thankfully it was better than last (not difficult since I've not had a heart attack this year, to date) But i was looking how my photos have changed to previous years. Are they better or worse? I'm not sure. Some I like, others I don't as much. I probably don't feel as comfortable as I used to do behind a camera though wish I knew why!
Anyway, I hope my enthusiasm will come back along with a better sense of composition, thats my new years wish anyway!
Roman Nose State Park Entrance by Debra Martz
This state park, located in northern Oklahoma, is named after a Cheyenne Chief "Henry Roman Nose - 1856~1917 who originally owned this 600-acre tract which comprised his allotment. It was preserved by the state as a park to honor him in 1937.
The Valley Of The Five Lakes (The Fifth Lake) Jasper Alberta.
This image taken midweek in April 2022.
Thick ice melting as the average daily temperature rises. No one else around. The view and the silence enhanced by the occasional sounds of the local wildlife and the spectacular reports of the ice cracking loudly as it warms (It sounds quite similar to gunshots)
A wonderfully eerie yet tranquil experience. #Rockies#Jasper#jasperalberta#Valleyofthefivelakes #scenic#mountains#lake#hiking

Alpenglow at Mt. Dronagiri in Uttarakhand, India. This is from the Kuari Pass Trek. Captured on my Pixel 7 Pro.
Mt. Dronagiri is the legendary mountain which was broken off by Bajrang Bali for Sanjeevni Booti to revive Lakshman Ji in the Battle of Ramayana.
This is the legendary Devprayag - one of the 5 Prayags - called Panch (5) Prayags (confluences) of devbhoomi Uttarakhand, India. The two differently coloured rivers are Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, which join together to give birth to River Ganga (it's not called Ganges!). This is where the lifeline of North India and Hindus takes birth, at the holy site of Devprayag.

Deception Pass Bridge between Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands, Washington. Deception pass got its name because explorers through it was a river leading inland from the San Juan Islands. Actually, it was just the tide rushing out from the narrows between the two islands.
