It has to be personal evaluation. We all use Mastadon a bit differently. Plus app support etc on iOS and Android
#peertube is full of weird, fun and quirky content. With no ads. You need to dig around a bit to find the cool stuff, but that's really worth it, IMHO. Give it a try! @RL_Dane Yeah, Hubzilla solves some of the problems we see in most other mainstream apps.
Like, what if my instance shuts down for good? Answer is nomadic identity.
What is my instance is broken for a few days or weeks? Answer is Clone your channel with another server, then use it while your main instance is down.
What if I want to post a photo of my family but only want certain people to see it, while these other people are on different servers without creating a room? Answer is Use privacy groups to limit visibility to those you specify.
Hubzilla also accepts RSS feeds and makes them appear as a real connection.

Friendica 2023.04 just dropped today! Can't wait to upgrade to use some of the polished up API endpoints in Relatica! Some are already in there but not working since Relatica checks the Friendica version and knows what can and can't be done (like post editing) for a given version. The new #spreadmastodon project needs to balance the damage with the good it does with its outreach project.
The wider #Fediverse relying heavily on a single platform, mastodon or instance https://mastodon.social, can have negative consequences. Leading to a concentration of power and influence in the hands of a few individuals and entities. This can result in issues such as censorship, lack of innovation, and a loss of privacy for users.
@feb Concerns raised about the http://SpreadMastodon.org project are that it may promote insincere or ineffective activism, promote the agenda of NGOs over the needs of communities, and potentially lead to the co-optation or watering down of the values and principles of the #openweb culture. It is important for the project to balance the potential damage with the good it can do through its outreach efforts, and for the wider #Fediverse to avoid relying too heavily on a single platform or instance.
I was (still am to a degree) on a similar vibe to @jimniels on a few of Mastodon's weaknesses. Mainly that you lose content if you need to move from an instance (and that's assuming a good move - you in theory can lose more).
