The murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman and the trial of O.J. Simpson forced America to talk about domestic violence. The 19th talked to experts about whether this changed anything in the longterm, as well as the "inescapable racial dynamics that shape the U.S. court system and the criminalization of Black men," write Nadra Nittle and Candice Norwood.

My first #marathon #race, done! Official result was 3:51:39.8, pace 8'50"/mile. I was ranked overall 50/167, in males 40/102, or in my age group 5/9. This is slightly slower than my PR in practice (3:50:33, pace 8'48”).

But the official time didn't account for the three times I was lost (!) and had to either retract or asked people (I was not the only one). According to my watch I earned PR on marathon: 3:44:58, pace 8’35”, and #halfMarathon: 1:45:19, pace 8’02”. (1/2)

Today in Labor History March 22, 1886: Mark Twain, who was a lifelong member of the International Typographical Union, gave a speech entitled, “Knights of Labor: The New Dynasty.” In the speech, he commended the Knights’ commitment to fair treatment of all workers, regardless of race or gender. “When all the bricklayers, and all the machinists, and all the miners, and blacksmiths, and printers, and stevedores, and housepainters, and brakemen, and engineers . . . and factory hands, and all the shop girls, and all the sewing machine women, and all the telegraph operators, in a word, all the myriads of toilers in whom is slumbering the reality of that thing which you call Power, ...when these rise, call the vast spectacle by any deluding name that will please your ear, but the fact remains that a Nation has risen.”

Amelia Mavis Christnot explains how men like Donald Trump, Brett Kavanaugh, and Brock Turner are made — and why they're allowed for so long by so many people to evade responsibility for their actions.

Heterosexual white male entitlement combined with overweening privilege due to wealth and social status: a formula for imagining that the world is there for your taking — as well as the women you assault.

The three reasons are:

She’s a Democrat.

And a person of color.

And a woman."

Working with the catalogue in Sellevold et al:s 1984 book Iron Age Man In Denmark, I am surprised to find a lot of information about whether the crania are brachiocephalic, mesocephalic or dolicocephalic in their proportions. On p. 184 the authors explain why they do this. It's because the measurements and indices in an influential 1928 study "are still routinely used by most anthropologists". Oh, right then?

Nazis appeared to find a friendly reception at the Conservative Political Action Conference this year.
Throughout the conference, extremists, some of whom had secured badges, openly mingled with conference attendees and espoused conspiracy theories.

The presence of these individuals has been a persistent issue at CPAC. In previous years, conference organizers have ejected well-known and white such as Nick .
But this year, racist conspiracy theorists didn’t meet any perceptible resistance at the conference where Donald has been the keynote speaker since 2017.
At the Young Republican mixer Friday evening, a group of Nazis who openly identified as national socialists mingled with mainstream conservative personalities, including some from Turning Point USA, and discussed so-called “ ” and antisemitic conspiracy theories.

One member of the group, Greg , who attended the deadly 2017 Unite the Right rally in , Virginia, said that his group showed up to talk to the media.
He said that the group was prepared to be ejected if CPAC organizers were tipped off,
but that never happened
