I cast some shade a little while ago on #inkscape for being too buggy to use. But after installing it and giving it another try I will go back on my previous statement and say it works a dream and is the best open source tool I know of to work with vector art.
Cheers @doctormo and all those who have put work into a fantastic project.
Been here for a while but now I'm planning to start using Mastodon more frequently, so here's my #introduction
I'm a 3D artist who works using open source tools (#Blender, #Inkscape, #GIMP) and #Linux because I believe as a society we need more collaboration and less greed
I'm currently working as an artist on OTOY's Roddenberry Archive but I also do other projects when time allows, mainly #StarTrek related
Expect mostly posts about Trek or cats, with some Linux and progressivism mixed in!
We would have liked to have gotten it perfect with regards to recovering data. The remaining issue is that it won't mark the file as dirty if it fixes it, so you'll have to save as or modify the document and save as normal.
This week's :inkscape: #inkscape update video is out and contains a new camera angle 😉 , also lots of exciting updates about colour managed output in Inkscape including cmyk jpeg/tiffs, soft-proofing display mode and putting those raster images into pdfs. Come check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niYxaxG_OSs
Big thanks to all my sponsors. ❤️
Please re-share to reach more people. :cc_sa:
This time I decided to draw a #sheep and use gradients despite not being very comfortable with them 🙈 The audiobook is "Catalogs to sleep by" a collection of texts aimed at helping you.. to #sleep! 💤
Pizza time! :blobfoxpizza: A drawing experiment I did to test a new art aesthetic, because my previous art methods made me render my drawing too much. :blobfoxfacepalm: Plus I honestly think that it looks more interesting this way!
Then you may ask your instance admin to see if they can add your emojos to it! :blobfoxowomlem:
Consider also checking if the emojos you want don't already exist in other instances, you can use https://emojos.in/ for that. Then you can simply right click an emojo, Save Image As... or Open Image in New Tab and copy or download it!
My favourite software @inkscape is 20 years old this month!
They're running a challenge in the Inkscape forum to make something to celebrate this milestone. I did a little research and put together this infographic about the development history of the project.
Don't underestimate Open Source Software! I just undid 100s of changes to a design in @inkscape (#Inkscape), with no crashing, and no issue.
Not only that, but I was able to save a copy of the file first (File > Save A Copy...) and then revert and save the original. This is different from a simple "Save As" that you might find in other software, because it doesn't change the file your actively working on.
I've discovered #Inkscape to composite #paper figures. Soooo powerful. Use your favourite plotting software to output a #PDF, open this in Inkscape to access all vector elements individually and change layer ordering, line structure, fonts, transparency, colour, etc. And add e.g. a pixel image and combine all into something coherent.
It's about doing #freelance works as a #FOSS agency and why they, and you as well, don't need proprietary packages when there are #libre alternatives without imposing a risk of development and support lock-in. Answering top audience questions.
