@lzg @petrillic I have riddle's muse and quite enjoy it but it's WAYYYYYYY too strong to wear to work. It's supposed to smell like bergamot, mandarin, jasmine, coconut, neroli, and amber. To me it smells a lot like artificial banana but I still really like it. It definitely has strong jasmine notes once it dries down

John Steinbeck is awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his novel The Grapes of Wrath.

The book was first published in April 14, 1939. The book won the National Book Award & Pulitzer Prize for fiction, & it was cited prominently when Steinbeck was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962. When preparing to write the novel, Steinbeck wrote: "I want to put a tag of shame on the greedy bastards who are responsible for this [the Great Depression and its effects]."

I like MacIntosh, Cortland, maybe Granny Smith apples. Hard to find at this time of year. I was craving apples, so fellow picked up some Cosmic Crisps. Not a fan. Crispy, but too sweet. A bit better than Red Delicious, which I really don't like, but, good to try, not again.

Foxtail season is SO BAD in socal this spring, dog and cat owners beware.

We had to take our sweet little dog to the vet for an emergency procedure to get a huge foxtail out of his nose, even though we are DILIGENT about keeping him away from them 😭

We also learned they can totally acclimate to a horrible foxtail; he stopped sneezing and seemed fine, but we still took him in and are so glad we did.

@grimalkina Our dog needed emergency surgery on a paw a few years back because of foxtails. Now we do regular paw inspections but I did not know we needed to inspect the nostrils too!

In the mood for a music star biopic, anybody know any movies where the musician or musicians have a dream to "make it" and they do songs and some bold capitalist person recognizes their talents and they're close to "making it" but OH NO someone has an emotional or drug issue that might derail their "making it" train but then they overcome that and "make it" and have a triumphal music show to demonstrate their triumph?

Finishing up doing my taxes with TurboTax, and it's been such an unsatisfying experience that I tried H&R Block's equivalent, which is also bad, but in different ways. Are any of these good? Maybe the desktop versions?

@harrymccracken I've used both TurboTax and H&R block and they do indeed, both suck. I prefer H&R block because if you use them 2 years in a row and pay between 30-50$ for the "deluxe" version they import all your information and the whole process took less than an hour. I wish that we qualified for direct file because I hate paying a third party to do taxes!

    What is a little white lie you were told as a child, that you believed for too long?

    I was way too old when I figured out a human couldn't actually get sucked down a drain or flushed down a toliet. I used to cling to my little brothers, and pull them out of the bath any time my Mum would pull to plug.

    Tesla has texted or called me at least 10 times in the last month to offer incentives if I lease a new car with them after my Model Y ends at the start of May. They are quite litterally desperate.

    If I chose to re-up with them I could get quite a deal. I’ve told their reps multiple times I won’t support Tesla as along as Elon Musk is the CEO of the company. Gotta wonder how long Tesla shareholders will put up with him in charge. https://mastodon.online/@electrek/112201815082910986
