In 2017, I crocheted myself a solar system costume. The headpiece is mounted on a bike helmet for stability (I got that tip from some folks who build showgirl costumes). The tunic is made from fine black linen yarn, very matte, very tedious, much like I imagine space is most of the time. The planets are made using an online sphere pattern generator, so that I could vary the sizes in a predictable way; they are strung on a fishing line with beads, and suspended from an elastic collar, also crocheted. They are also kept in place with a beaded "asteroid belt", located between Mars and Jupiter, of course. Photographed at Manhattan Beach Pier. All second-hand yarns, though I had to ask around for enough yellow to make the sun so large. #solarsystem#crochet#costume#planets#sun#astronomy#planetary#yesplutotoo
I have finished this past year's temperature blanket piece. This is a continuing project that will encompass a decade in my village here at the 45th parallel. Each row represents the daily high temperature. 60s are green, 70s yellow, 80s red, and so on.
My 13 year old daughter is trying to raise some funds to pay for own ice skating birthday party and Etsy banned our attempts to setup a store (even with my wife’s credentials - don’t get it) so we posted on TradeMe. But seems TradeMe isn’t the easiest to sell #handmade#crafts and #crochet as she’s had zero views.
I love hexagons, and I love intense colors in rainbow order, and I love using up scraps of thrifted yarn. So this blanket was all joy to make. #crochet#rainbow#hexagons
Exactly a year after learning to crochet, my first major freeform piece - a Halloween jumper! Freeform has no pattern, fabric is made up of small random or figurative 'scrumbles' and joining them together. About £90 of yarn in it - wool, premium acrylic/cotton, recycled sari silk, chenille, felt bobbles and beads. I'm fascinated by eyes. My OH says it's 'the product of a disturbed mind'.
I am recovering from a brain tumor and paralysis, living at longterm care/rehab center (unfortunately, pretty bare-bones sucky) while I learn to walk again.
Part of my recovery is to knit - fine motor skills! But my stash is utterly pathetic, as is my bank account.
If you have a bit of yarn to spare from your stash, could you send me a ball or skein? Thank you greatly for your donation! Address follows. 🙏🧶💞
I'm new to microblogging, but I'm going to try it out and see if it sticks. I have a lot of hobbies and figure I might be able to find something to say about them now and again.
I might post about crocheting, knitting, drawing, programming, or any other creative endeavor I happen to pick up.
Holy f*@k - I did a Thing!
I inherited a part ball of variegated yarn - which I dislike using because I feel it's disorganized, chaotic and messy looking. But I've seen this thing done online and decided to spend a day screwing around and tried it. It bloody worked. (Eventually) I'm amazed. A combination of programming and sorcery.
Hi, I'm new to Mastodon, and I never used Twitter, so I'm "new-new" in this kind of social media. I'm a crocheter since many years and I want to keep improving with other passionated people. #crochet
#introduction
like most people I've popped over from the bird site to see whats the crack.
I'm a #steampunk, I #crochet so expect pics of my weird and wonderful creations such as this crocheted autopsied mouse (you can buy them, I make to order).
I post whats on my mind, 90% crap involving #food, #pets, #telly and random #polls, the other 10% maybe witty or inspiring (but don't hold me to that).
