Edinburgh (overlooking the Water of Leith) in autumn. Picture taken with an oldish phone from the top deck of the bus, sorry for the quality. I thought it looked like a painting. #scotland#landscape#photography#Edinburgh
Sometimes you just gotta sit on a bench beside the Observatory, eating fish & chips from a favoured chippy (Stefano's on Morningside Road) in a chilly -1ºC under light of a full moon whilst watching the remains of an aurora display as Orion rises.

The mystery arises because no-one knows when this obviously man-made complex was excavated, or by whom, or what it was used for. Great to see the nacreous clouds locally yesterday, these are hardly ever seen in the UK as very specific conditions are needed, and as one of the highest clouds in the atmosphere, it is typically referred to as 'mother-of-pearl.

Only a short walk from the much better-known Rosslyn Chapel south of Edinburgh is the ruin of the fairy-tale Rosslyn Castle, occupying the summit of an easily defensible rocky promontory. A stone castle was first built here in 1304. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/roslin/rosslyncastle/index.html
