➡️ One of the best things about Tw was/is finding interesting ppl and can read and connect with, without having to belong to that group. W/o Tw, I would never have had the chance to easily find & read about aerosols and the hundreds of other interesting topics.
🌟Now, I continue to hope that I can do it here on Mastodon. Still new, but it is looking good! 👍🎉
➡️ It was on Tw that I saw Black ppl encouraging others to go see “Crazy Rich Asians”, to show up for Asians. And vice versa, Asians encouraged others to go see “Black Panther”. To support each other.
😭😭❤️
I'm just remembering some of the good things about Tw. And I expect to see good things on Mastodon, too.
You know what else is great about mastodon? if you unfollow someone you can put a little note in that private notes box on their profile page to remind yourself not to re follow them again later. #feditip#toptips#mastodon#twitterMigration
I see we're doing #Introductions due to #twittermigration (honestly not a huge fan of this word, but it seems to be where a lot of people are finding others).
But hello there! I'm Missy (they/them), I'm a #writer, mostly fiction and non-fiction work (also of the #fanfiction variety). I also write gaming news and reviews for checkpointgaming. So video games are a huge love for me. I'm #disabled, I'm #queer, I love #sharks and I'm just a huge nerd.
hi, mastodon! i'm new here, part of the twitter exodus. the idea of starting new community in this time is giving me life.

looking forward to meeting new people on here, and to seeing old friends in a healthier setting.
hi, mastodon! brand-new here, curious/excited to see if this will be my place to connect to people & ideas going forward.

It searches for the patterns @user, user@host.tld and host.tld/@user in the screen name, description, location and URL field. It displays them to you in the correct format for easy copying as well as a CSV download that can be imported to #Mastodon.
You can now check if the handles in your own Twitter profile are found. They are not added to the export. If there are issues with your profile, let me know.
#Introduction
Hi Mastodon. I work for #OpenAccess to research in all fields and regions. Formerly directed the Harvard Office for Scholarly Communication. Now semi-retired but still working for the cause.
Does a post really vibe with you? Follow the poster.
There's no code spying on your behavior to drive "engagement." Your experience here is entirely in your hands.
Also, it's totally cool to unfollow people here who don't quite fit what you're looking for. No one cares. Personal "brands" and influencers aren't really a thing here.
When I joined Twitter, it felt like I was talking to myself. Having followed the #TwitterMigration and with zero followers, writing a post here also feels like talking to myself.
Hey #newbies! Don't worry about how mastodon works. Just join and play. Don't worry about what 'instance' (server) you can swap later. Just come and chat. No algorithm, no suggested stuff, no ads, just us!

Added excitement, content warnings for scary shit and NSFW shit. Oh and image descriptions and the choice to hide images. #Twexit#TwitterMigration
Hi all -- new to Mastodon. I'm a professor who studies public health ethics, public health law, and history of medicine & public health (19th c. Americanist).
I do policy work, teach, design programs and curricula, and work closely with students.
Otherwise: I train Brazilian jiujitsu (about 9 years), love Star Wars, Batman, and coffee. I like to bake, esp. bread.
#Newcomers to #Mastodon keep in mind when you see people telling you how easy things are and telling you how to do things, someone on Mastodon just ran a poll with hundreds of responses and 1/3 of the people said they ran their own email server.
