I used to be proud that Boeing planes were made in Seattle. Now I’m actually scared to fly on them. The McDonnell Douglas merger was the worst thing that ever happened to American aerospace.
This whistleblower’s death is profoundly suspicious.
The area around Silver Star Mountain is incredible. I needed this trip so badly, both physically and mentally. I slept at the trailhead and got up bright and early to check out the Chinook Trail. I only learned about this trail a couple days ago. Apparently an effort to build a loop trail around Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR.
The first photo is the view from near my camp on Cloudy Pass. Today has been incredible but tough. Hiked 20 miles with 6400’ elevation gain. This is not like the PCT, it’s rough trails that go straight up for hours. But i’m so happy, I wanted an epic long weekend and Glacier Peak Wilderness is providing that in spades so far.
Just before the 2020 US presidential election, we witnessed Trumper Postmaster General DeJoy's trucks loaded with postal collection boxes being taken out of service.
The new DeJoy voter suppression strategy seems to be decommissioning the mail drop boxes but leaving them in place as decoys.
"In a statement, the USPS said employees had placed 'out of service' signs on the mailbox multiple times, but they were removed, and unwitting customers continued to use the box."
Translation:
Hey, we taped a flimsy paper sign to the box, but we can't be held responsible if the wind blew it away, and even though we knew about it we still didn't check the box until weeks after the ballot deadline.
Mount Hood looks stunning from up here on Table Mountain. I was informed by a frankly terrified-looking day hiker that black bears were seen up here last night. I’m proceeding with caution and will update you if I encounter them. 🐻🗻☀️
Big if, but if this trip marks the end of backpacking season, I’m satisfied. After setting up my tent at Upper Snow Lake, I couldn’t resist the steep climb up to Lake Viviane to get a glimpse of the Core Enchantments. Incredible! I had psyched myself up for this trip but it’s much better. Spending tomorrow in the core. So excited!
Hello, Mastodon! May I introduce myself? I'm the Washington State Ski and Snowboard Museum, located east of #Seattle on I-90. My interests include #education, #skiing, #snowboarding, and #history. And, like most Washingtonians, coffee and Sasquatch.
