"Friday night in San Francisco" by Al Di Meola, John MacLaughlin and Paco De Lucia has to be one of the best albums ever in the history of #music (that's at least my opinion today). An exquisite mix of #Flamenco, #Jazz and a bunch of other influences. I think it even qualifies to #interdisciplinary research project.
Played only with the three #guitars and the public - the energy of the live performance is palpable in the the recording.
Came out #OTD in 1981. #guitar
Speaking of nice things folks did for me, here's how I filled a #youtube channel with 220+ amateur #guitar#CoverSongs on it.
My friend Joe had a weekly dinner music gig at a local bar, just him, a mic, & his 335, every Sunday, and he let me do a song before he went on.
The owner closed for COVID and sold the place. It's done.
I kept doing a song a week, from home. I send him links, and he always returns kind words. #mensch https://youtube.com/ScottFromBaltimore
Been working on a cover of Bryan Adams song Run To You and have been struggling a lot with the guitar sound. All of the Les Paul’s have way too much low end & sound really muddy. The amount of EQ required to “fix” this is ridiculous. The Strat actually works really well. So the takeaway is that a $150 Squier works better here than a $6000 Gibson.
Just picked up a Strymon El Capistan. It's replacing a Danelectro Dan-echo. It's good for the features it has, but I was looking for more capabilities. The Strymon adds stereo (to go with my stereo tremolo and chorus), tap tempo, multi-head tape with all that entails, reverb, self-oscillation 🚀, reverb, and support for external foot switch, expression pedal, or MIDI.
From what little I can find the SL5X and SL3 are essentially the same guitar except the 5x has HSH pickup configuration and is manufactured in Indonesia....
Everyone, please meet Nimona!!!!! She is 7.3 pounds. Balances on my leg perfectly without assistance, and naturally angles the neck up which encourages a straight wrist while I’m sitting down. She is in the satin burgundy mist finish. A Charvel Pro-Mod DK 24 HH 2 PT electric guitar. She has Seymour Duncan pickups and the tone versatility so far blows me away. The neck is unbelievable. :blobaww: :BlobhajTinyHeart: 💖💕 #guitar#charvel#pink#BurgundyMist
#NewGuitarDay A Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jaguar. I'm planning to take it to the local guitar tech on Monday for setup. It's a little rough. The fretboard is really dry and the frets stick out a bit on the sides. I suspect the bridge needs to be raised, which will require the neck to be shimmed. The vibrato isn't too noisy - I'd heard some of them are really bad, maybe I got lucky here. The frets are really rough. It doesn't stay in tune, maybe it needs work on the nut?
The good: it sounds cool. It's also the first guitar I've had with a tremolo (vibrato) system, so that's fun to play with. I don't like the tortoiseshell pickguard, but I ordered a replacement pearloid one. And I got it on sale, so I don't mind spending a bit of money fixing it up. So let's see how good we can make this guitar!
Dweezil Zappa talking about his dad, his guitar collection, and a bit about Eddie Van Halen. This is a pretty great look into music history. https://youtu.be/GDWo8blebpU #FrankZappa#Guitars
Trying out #guitars at #mudpiemusic in #Brighton - a great selection but this lovely USA-built #G&L #ASAT in an alluring shade of green caught my eye and felt great to play.
When I got home, I had to give my butterscotch 1999 ASAT some attention so it doesn't get jealous 🤣
Kind of impulse bought a used Jackson Soloist SL5X. Can't seem to find much of anything online about it. All the articles talk about the SL3. What is the difference?
