I fully support Saudi Arabia bankrupting itself as it wastes hundreds of billions of dollars on white elephant projects in the desert. The Saudis have already wasted half a trillion dollars on the US-backed Saudi-led genocidal war on the people of Yemen. I can't wait for the inevitable fall of the Saudi Wahhabi dynasty, which has been propped up by the UK/US/West over the last century and is responsible for spreading radicalism across the Islamic world.

Just how serious is / the about defeating Putin in & pushing back to the UN-recognized 1991 borders? The Europeans are still buying Russian oil & gas via Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan, which isn't really oil- or gas-rich, is simply reexporting Russian energy to the EU. To make matters worse, Azerbaijan is ruled by a -style genocidal dictator who wants to invade & annex neighboring Armenia.

Europe is propping up these regimes.

Since 2020, whenever Lavrov visited Azerbaijan, the Azeris would begin a military confrontation against the Armenians shortly thereafter. Russia wants Azerbaijan to invade/annex Armenia to punish the Armenians for electing a pro-Western ruler. Don't be surprised if Russia encourages Venezuela to invade/annex Guyana as well.

@morecowbell In panpsychism, everything is conscious to a degree, including rocks, inanimate objects, etc. In these theories, however, not everything is conscious. Only lifeforms are conscious, and so is the large-scale universe, albeit the universal mind doesn't really feel like our minds, for lack of a better term.

I agree with this computer scientist's assessment that is a myth. I'd even go further than that and suggest that AGI is just a buzzword and that it'd probably never happen. I also don't think machines would ever become "alive", even if you teach them how to reproduce. You still cannot teach them how to adapt, as that would probably require infinite lines of code. Or maybe I'm just wrong.

Has anyone else noticed that racialists tend to draw false parallels between DNA/genes & computer code/programs? They're not the same. They mistakenly see genes/DNA as fatalistic or strongly deterministic. There's no gene for becoming a musician. We're not "commanded" to do anything.

I cannot overstate how dangerous it is to compare DNA/genes to computer code/programs, especially since the comparison is wrong (and is used by racialists).

Your DNA doesn't carry specific instructions. It's more like a recipe list. Almost all physical and behavioral traits are either moderately or weakly determined by genes---not strongly. We're not commanded to carry out specific actions either, nor are we programmed to execute certain tasks.

So I've been on for nearly 10 days and I'm absolutely loving it. Far better place than , which is now just a Nazi website, to be honest. I love that this place is overall left-leaning, albeit there is a bit of cognitive dissonance with respect to some users who appear left-leaning until, Allah/God forbid, you mention .

Anyway, there's just one thing I've noticed so far. I'm kinda embarrassed to ask but... Where are all the Black people? Any Mideasterners here too? 😕

The Software Heritage is an initiative/organization that aims to digitally all historical & current . It's like the Wayback Machine, but for software code. My hope is that it one day also archives the source code of software/apps that currently aren't free. Inshallah. Why not? Everyone's worried about the upcoming bridge between and but I'd honestly be more worried about the Mostr bridge that connects to . I was browsing through Nostr a while ago and accidentally found out that one of my Mastodon posts was reposted there. I clicked on it to read the replies and HOLY ****. That bridge made my posts visible to far-right Mastodon instances that were blocked by this instance. At least with Bluesky you know the majority are still good.

Pakistan will one day get taken over by the Taliban. Mark my words. America's constant meddling in Pakistani politics is preventing that country from becoming democratic. Its system is rigged towards the US-backed Punjabi elites who don't wanna share power with the Pashtun, Baloch, etc. When you deny democracy to half the population, they'd eventually become disillusioned & join armed groups instead. Same happened in Yemen.
