My adorable little friend needed babysitting again today. I placed a log in a strategic place as a makeshift baby gate to encourage staying in the ground squirrel corner. In the last picture you can see the injured mom doing her best to keep an eye out 🥺 #nature#wildlife#squirrels#animals#animalphotography
As the summer is winding down there are still some mornings that look like this. Joni was quite young in this photograph, but the intensity never wanes.
Make it as good a day as you can!
Well well, some new residents in the zoo. Actually they are two but the other one didn't really want to present more than his butt to the visitors so this one will have to do.
On a side note, they do have a really dedicated hair stylist, just look at that perfectly groomed mane!
Unfortunately, being the rock stars and picky kittens they are, the building with my personal fennecs is closed off, so I have to wait until Sir Lion is comfy with his new enclosure.
We have a fox Have our racoons gone?
We've had racoons wrecking our lawn for years, in the spring and fall, digging up all the grass in search of grubs. Since we've seen this fox hanging around, there has been no lawn wrecking crew active. I much prefer foxes (not having chickens). A handsome fellow, I hope he has a mate to scare off more raccoons and keep the rodent population down.
Happy Wednesday!
Introduction Post: I joined Mastodon for no good reason other than to give it a try. I am a lawyer by trade who left private practice after 10 years to work for a nonprofit land trust. Think small version of the Nature Conservancy. I am interested in a wide range of things. I enjoy the photos #animalphotography#cats#dogs#wildflowers#scenery. #history#politics#music#opera are always good. I am not much of a contributor. I'm an #introvert online as in person.
