The #stupid! It burns! Another #FoxNews host humiliates herself on her own show. First of all, #communism and #fascism are diametrically opposed systems of #government; You can't be both a #communist and a #fascist. And second, fascism is an inherently #rightwing#ideology; the left cannot be fascists. Either this girl never went to high school, or this is a shameless attempt to mislead her viewers.
8 #Republican senators announced Fri they would boycott #Democratic#legislative priorities & nominations as payback for #Trump’s #guilty#verdict.
In a joint statement, the senators said they would not “allow any increase to non-security related funding for this administration, or any appropriations bill which funds partisan lawfare.”
The town of #SummerfieldNC lies just north of Greensboro, North Carolina, and has seen a transition from rural farming village to bedroom community to reluctant suburb over the past two decades.
#Summerfield's current town council was voted in on a hardcore #NIMBYism platform. Putting that platform into action, however, has led to some substantial consequences for the town, including... (1/n)
Let's get this out of the way: they give a number of #reasons why #webservers "might wish" to establish that a web #client is running on a "#trusted" software stack, including things like "make sure other game players aren't cheating" and "ensure I'm talking to another human".
Italy’s far-right party proposed using AI to assign youth mandatory jobs.
“The young person will no longer be able to choose whether to work or not, but [will be] bound to accept the job offer for himself (sic), for his family and for the country, under penalty of loss of all benefits.”
Four opposition parties want to intermit the summer break of the #parliamend to have a #ConfidenceVote about the racist minister Riikka #Purra. And the fifth one is open for it, too.
Prime minister Petteri #Orpo said yesterday, that "there's no need for that".
However, our constituional law says that the #government and it's ministers must have the confidence of the parliament.
Governments need to get off Twitter and at first glance this seems easy: set up a gov-centric Mastodon instance and convince governments to move.
Except it's far more complicated than that.
In evaluating if this was an endeavor I wanted to pursue (spoiler: no) I wrote up a list of things to consider for this to be done well. Hopefully it helps someone else in solving this problem.
Logical arguments against the state are more powerful than appeals to morality.
The state's existence relies on an illogical premise: namely, that one group of rational agents arbitrarily have rights that another group of rational agents do not.
"The German government has launched a new Open Source software project called openDesk, which aims to reduce the country’s dependency on proprietary software vendors and support transparency and interoperability.
openDesk is a collection of #OpenSource software modules that are important for day-to-day work in the public sector, such as text creation, file collaboration, project management, email, calendar and messaging."
"We urgently need a solution that gives our government officials the power to reach everyone, and more control over the way they connect with the citizens."
A question for those with detailed knowledge of #UKpolitics and the laws surrounding #parliament in general:
If the UK were to become involved in a #war or major #conflict, could parliament suspend a #GeneralElection indefinitely?
It seems from Grant Shapps' rhetoric that the #government is more focused upon preparing for war than avoiding it, and I certainly wouldn't put this tactic past the #Conservatives given their healthy parliamentary majority and record to date.
The site lays out my position a little more clearly. For now, I have a reading list of the papers that really helped me shape my early thinking. Will be adding more resources as we go
Ah, another #government#shutdown probable :-( Last time that happened, they trashed the National Parks. (Bryan Williams read out my opinion on that on the 11th Hour back in 2019....)
Sometimes people take politics too personally, eventually resorting to violence but the question is whether violence is justified during the time of elections?
Nearly half of voters across a group of swing-states said they expect violence around the upcoming presidential election, according to a new poll.
🧵I know I mostly toot about #Ukraine here, but the #SCOTUS has got me annoyed. More than they usually irritate me. People in my generation (elder #millennial), #GenX'ers, and #Boomers, mostly grew up with a court that's legacy was in many ways progressive. As a result, most folks respected & trusted the SCOTUS as an institution, especially when compared to the other branches of #government. #Watergate, #Clinton's #impeachment, & various #bribery & #misconduct scandals in #congress 1/n
