I'm 59. When I was born, segregation existed, interracial marriage was illegal and women were not allowed to have credit cards in their own names until I was 11 years old. CIVIL RIGHTS ARE A NEW THING.

I’ll be blunt. We have no hope of averting climate chaos or preventing the catastrophic collapse of our modern society without SYSTEM CHANGE.

Keeping capitalism in charge means a death sentence for billions of humans — most of them poor and in the Global South — along with complete extinction for uncounted plant and animal species.

The fake “democracy” we have in the Global North is nothing but a game show owned and produced by oligarchs. As long as they remain in control of the system, nothing meaningful will change. How you vote doesn’t matter, because every important candidate is approved in advance, vetted and managed by those men behind the curtain.

Either capitalism dies or we die. It’s that simple.

I truly believe the Northern hemisphere is in for a rude awakening this fall and winter. COVID continues to mutate, immunity is fading, new booster uptake will be minimal, repeated infections will have weakened many people's immune systems, and everyone wants to pretend COVID is gone.

As I slowly recover from my first infection, I can't imagine why people would want to risk multiple infections. I'll do my best to make this my ONLY infection.

BREAKING: McDonald's workers in Oakland have walked off the job on strike. After their store was transferred to a new franchisee, their accrued paid sick leave was zeroed out. They weren't compensated or told. One worker was relying on paid leave for hernia surgery.

Why does do ?

I now think they are just buying themselves a developer community.

As @tchambers and others have pointed out, the size of the entire is a rounding error in the user numbers that companies like Meta have and expect, and need to have to make it worth their while to create a new product.

So in a few months or a year, it's very possible that 90%+ of all ActivityPub endpoints will be controlled by Meta, and they will be the de-facto standard.
