Because of changing life circumstances (my partner going into assisted living, me moving to a new apartment) we're needing to re-home our 2 dogs.
This is really, really hard. Luckily one of them is going back to my GF's ex-husband (which is an excellent thing) but I need to find a new home for Bella.
Hello everyone, happy Sunday!🙂👋 How is everyone and everything today We went to a rescue farm that takes in animals about to be slaughtered or retired after they can no longer work. It was a wonderful experience, my wife and daughter got to hug the St. Louis Six. They are six steers who escaped the slaughter house years ago, five are still living in the farm, one passed and has a memorial pond. I recommend it if you're in the area.
I had some really generous food donations that kept everyone fed for the last few weeks but it’s time for a new wishlist for my foster kitties for October! I’ve had a few adoptions recently, which is always great to see, but I’ve still got a lot of work to do getting these kiddos (and young adults) into homes. Thanks to everyone in the Fediverse who’s been able to help out!
There was a unanimous decision to let people into the Þórkátlustað district only (less than twenty homes).
The first animals are rescued from the Þórkátlustað district. People have only 5 minutes to pick up belongings and pets/animals.
According to Red Cross Iceland, a animal rescue operation is underway to bring the horses from the riding area north of Austurver to safety.

A well-meaning rescuer brought what they thought was a baby hedgehog to a wildlife hospital in Cheshire, U.K., only to be told it was the pompom from a hat. Here's the sweet story from the BBC.
I got to pet the Penguin for the 1st time today!!! They are the neighborhood stray tuxedo cat though I'm pretty sure a girl after the close interaction. We're leaving for the Garden Glow now but I left extra food. We're discussing the feasibility of taking in another cat on the way... If anyone in my area is looking for a new feline friend please let me know.
This little girl will be making her grand entrance later on today!
In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak of her running in to steal all your hearts. We’re excited to introduce you to her properly and to explain why she is known as the Nursery’s Valentine 💚🐘
Most stray animals are hiding all day, she says, but when they do come out, Saeed Al Err is always there waiting for them with food and water.
“The dogs recognise the sound of the planes right before the bomb drops when the sound of the plane changes, and they all start to cry … they are just as scared as humans,” Annelies Keuleers...
Don't suppose anyone who follows me is looking to re-home a rescue puppy? Galgos del Sol rescues Spanish hunting dogs, and can re-home to UK, Spain, Italy, US, Canada, Finland and probably some other places I forgot. These adorable puppies were born at the rescue centre and they need a home. #DogsOfMastodon#AnimalRescue https://www.facebook.com/reel/1389406905281403
I’ve updated my foster kitty food donation list for February! I might start posting a Chewy list too, especially since Amazon can be hit or miss with stocking dry food. As of this week we have people interested in adopting Butter Pecan (no thoughts only orange) and Madelyne (tortitude), so hopefully we’ll have more kitties in homes soon. Thank you all so much for helping!
Between May 1 to May 15, adoption fees at all Maui Humane Society adoption locations will be reduced in price. This includes adoption fees of $0 for #dogs and #cats six months and older, as well as $50 adoptions for kittens under six months old. #Texas#AnimalRescue > As a result of severe storms that ravaged parts of #Houston, Houston SPCA had taken in almost 100 displaced or injured wild #animals.
SPCA officials expected the surge of #animal intakes to last for a few days as cleanup efforts continued.
If you've lost a pet in the Valley View storm, All American Dogs Shelter has been out to the area and has picked up several pets.
They will be diligently searching for and picking up loose/stray animals and taking them back to the shelter in Pilot Point.
Please contact the shelter or (better) go out there and see if your furry family member has been captured and is waiting for you.
If you haven't had a chance to do so yet, and your pet is microchipped, please contact your microchip company to be sure the contact info is up to date.
With so many unwanted #pets, staff say things are at a breaking point. People come to the shelter looking to surrender their animals but are turned away daily.
“We have about 45 #dogs on our waiting list to come in, we probably have double that in #cats waiting to come in.”
