Since I've only been on here a week I'm posting a 2nd #introduction ...I'm Bryan (duh) in #Ottawa, almost 50 (embracing it), #bisexual cat dad (my baby's turning 5 in June), here for some #queer content, maybe some music (I'm a #disco and #edm fanatic), movies (keen on #horror right now), some real talk about ME / #CFS, #trauma / #PTSD / #CPTSD, and I might talk about working out and cooking (because no one's ever done that online). Here's a 30-year-old photo of me, I look EXACTLY the same now.
I don't know if anyone else has gone through this. I've started #writing a new play. It's awesome and flowing, but it's triggering the fuck out of me. I won't go into details. I thought it would be fine and easy going and it is. But after I write, my mood crashes. It's not just the subject matter. It's the act of opening up. Has anyone else gone through something like this? It's fucking exhausting and I'm questioning if I should write at all. #writerscommunity#writerscoffeeclub#AuDHD#ptsd
"Giving people who lost their humanity, people were reduced to nothing, giving them their dignity back … Psychologists can’t do that alone. We need responses at state and international level. We need the rest of the world to stand with us.”

My anxiety over the upcoming #weather is not doing very good for my actual #anxiety my #PTSD or my #bipolar I don't have very much in life but I really can't afford to lose anything else and I have no way to make sure everything's somewhat secure and off the floor so when it floods it doesn't get destroyed I'm really tired of stressing out trying to live each day and not getting by and now I got more bad weather to worry about
Since April is #AutismAwarenessMonth, I felt like I should amplify the fact that people with #Autism and #Autistic spectrum disorders almost unanimously feel that #AutismSpeaks is counterproductive in that it actively avoids allowing autistic representation, and focuses on suppressing autistic traits in general rather than trying to bolster coping skills and give autistic people wider acceptance in society.
It's the equivalent of an organization about people in wheelchairs, run entirely by people who are inconvenienced by them, pulling attention away from advocacy for ramps in order to find ways to make the wheelchairs less obtrusive, at the expense of the people in wheelchairs.
If you have ever filled out a diagnostic questionnaire, which questions bugged you (and why) & which did you think were missing?
You can also answer privately, if you want.
I'm am starting to collect questions and ideas in order to optimise diagnostic tools.
Please add, which diagnosis you're referring to and which language the questionnaire was in.
It doesn't matter which one it is, here are just some examples: #ADHD#autism#depression#PTSD#cPTSD#DID#anxiety
Having now watched all 3 episodes of #Breathtaking on real-time TV, the Q. that keeps coming to mind, is how did they cope?
the patients, the #nurses, the #doctors and (yes, even) the managers?
made to deal with a situation made worse by a Govt. making it up as it went along, often making it worse due to a lack of concerted leadership, we sacrificed #healthcare professionals to #PTSD, ending over 400 of their lives...
a truly harrowing three hours TV which summed up our own shortcomings
My situation has just drastically changed. You do NOT need a #Cohost account to read this post.
TL;DR: My father is now at risk of losing his job, which means my parents are going to keep me in this house to take my money. My mother continues to try to scare me out of moving out. I have nowhere to go. I need guidance. Please help me.
#Psychoactive drug is the only known treatment that heals traumatic brain injuries
Story by Andrei Ionescu
January 10, 2024
"In a groundbreaking study, Stanford researchers have discovered a potential treatment for the invisible wounds of war, particularly traumatic brain injuries (#TBIs) that often lead to post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, #depression, and #suicide among military #veterans.
"Published in the journal Nature Medicine, the study reveals that the plant-based psychoactive drug ibogaine, in combination with #magnesium, can significantly reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and improve functioning in veterans with traumatic brain injury."
Today in Labor History January 5, 1919: Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg launched the Spartacist Uprising in Berlin. Part of the post-WWI Revolution occurring throughout Germany, the Spartacist uprising was essentially a power struggle between the Spartacists and other Council Communists (left-wing, anti-authoritarian communists) against the Social Democrats. 500,000 workers participated in the General Strike they called for January 7 to replace the moderate Social Democratic government with a communist one. Many of the workers obtained arms. They tried, but failed, to get the support of the Navy, which remained neutral in the conflict. However, the Social Democrats got the anti-Communist Freikorps paramilitary to fight for their side. The Freikorps had weapons and military equipment leftover from WWI and were able to quash the uprising within a week. The Freikorps was comprised of WWI vets, many of whom were suffering from PTSD. Many went on to became Nazis. Up to 200 people died in the fighting, including 17 Freikorps soldiers. The Social Democrats captured, beat and executed Liebknecht and Luxemburg.

Disabled people are treated like our bodies, our stories, are public property - especially so for those of us who are Aboriginal, who are Black, or People of Colour, who are trans or queer, or read as women.
Consider that if someone with a disability is posting their mutual aid links, either give/share/support or just move on.
Don't message us asking why we're disabled or why we're not on disability support pensions - that's nunya. NUNYA.
