Made a cheesecake for my dad's birthday and shared it with my parents and @mathias tonight!
Strawberry cheesecake made from cooked-down pureed strawberries, on a ginger snap crust, with a thin semi-sweet chocolate ganache glaze and a piping of chocolate whipped cream and sweetened macerated strawberries on top.
Mostly because my mum was in hospital and then difficulties since getting her home I haven't baked for nearly two weeks. Dough now bulk proofing. Details of the #Bread flour mixture later!
I screwed up again. Forgot the salt. This time remembered as I was about to decant the bulk proof rather than after baking.
Have tried adding salt now, remixing, and now into tins in proofer. Clearly the reason it had risen a bit wildly.
It might not work so just have to keep going and see what comes out. #Baking#Bread
I’ve been thinking lately of making a Swiss meringue with vanilla seeds in it, so I thought I’d do a quick search to see if anyone had posted a recipe somewhere to get the ratio right. All I could find were buttercream frostings, which, okay, fair, also sounds delicious. 🤤 #baking#bake
I'm Tonya Marie, a mid-50s trans woman originally from Texas but now safely ensconced in Seattle. I'm a semi-retired #math teacher and occasional coder, but my passion is being a housewife for my loving wife.
Salad is cool. Salad saves time. Salad saves you money. Salad is good for footprint. Ready prepped in the fridge is awesome for health, exec function, good choices & quick meals. Salad is good rebellion, in lots of ways.
Consider just how many nudges you get in shows, on social, endless ads, pushing towards unhealthy, high profit, low nutrition, high cost, highly processed, high environmental impact, food.
The annual egg nog bread pudding (like the Newfoundland Fries, it's a way to use up leftovers)
Added an egg and milk to the eggnog that wasn't finished before its BB date. This year, it's the challah that started to stale (last year, it was croissants, I think). Added cranberries and small spoons of orange marmalade. Num.
I've been on Masto for several years, but not very active. I recently changed instances, and never did an #introduction post before, so here we go!
I'm a photographer based on Halifax, NS, Canada, though my day job is as a software developer. My main interests are, in no particular order, #photography, home #baking & #cooking, #programming, #security, #equality, and #cats. Many others, but yeah.
My own posts will be mostly photography focused, and with that, here's a photo of my fluffy boy.
The thing they don't tell you about switching Mastodon instances: you lose all the posts! Prove me wrong :)
So this is an #introduction post. I'm all over the place: #3dPrinting, #Sewing, #Weaving, #Inkscape, #FreeCAD happen often. There is a chance of #BreadPosting, #baking, degus and an occasional #selfie can happen too.
I'm #Ukrainian and live in Kyiv, so I write about life here and now too. No gore :)
I worked in a govt library for awhile (loved it), ran my own coffee roastery (loved it), and am now in retail (love it). I've 6 kids, two of whom are #trans. I'm #enby. I don't tolerate hate. I'm #CovidCautious.

I was never on twitter, but I figured I'd try out Mastodon. I'm a chemist and chemical biologist by training and my work comes home a bit too often as an amateur baker. I've done bike commuting in worse climates with better infrastructure (Fort Collins, CO and PDX) and better climates with much worse infrastructure (Orange County, CA). Anti-car, pro-community. #Science#Chemistry#ChemicalBiology#Baking#Biking#BikeCommuting
