"The vast majority of violence, including virtually every terrorist attack in the last 25 years, coming from the far right, has not been from anyone affiliated with a group. Most of what we see in the violent actions are individuals who are radicalized online into toxic cultures"

So basically: Facebook.

Here are some story templates you can use to promote and the to your friends.

  1. Download the 2 images

  2. Put a link sticker to https://joinmastodon.org/apps on the “try Mastodon” image. Add a fun arrow sticker to draw attention.

  3. Put a link sticker to your fediverse profile, but with your handle as text on the “follow me” image.

Example attached.

You can follow me on Mastodon: Mastodon is the only Twitter alternative that: • has over 11 million people using it • is truly federated, meaning no single company “owns” it • will be supported by WordPress, Tumblr, and more soon!

Bluesky is going to skyrocket to mainstream popularity and actually replace Twitter, and Mastodon cannot, because Bluesky is being designed to be simple, fun, and — most importantly — easy to understand.

I honestly don't get the focus on and in particular I don't get the obsession here on with growth.

grew, grew, grew. They are all enshitified garbage today.

Build good new apps that actually help people, let the soulless bros and VC worry about growth.

how much of a bubble do we have to be in, to see Twitter as the biggest platform that needs an alternative? I am glad that @pixelfed is trying but we need a wayyyy bigger push in that direction. 90% of my friends AFK mainly use instagram for all communication online.

@liaizon I really don't think is taking a slice of 's cake any time soon, to be honest. I think if / when & adopt , they might be able to steal away a few users who want to share photos - but Instagram has its feet firmly grounded right now.

So, I recently (i.e. yesterday) decided to make a separate account for my nonsense. If you are on Instagram and interested, here's the account: https://www.instagram.com/mdmrn_crossing/

Don't worry - I'm not going to stop posting said content here. Not that I think you were too worried, but just in case :blobnook:

And at the moment I'm not planning on doing that here - one personal account is enough for me. This is a multi-fandom geek Dad account!

But, I wonder how y'all feel about making separate, niche accounts for your fandoms. I know that happens on Instagram, but wasn't sure if people were doing that in the too.

and content is a cancer regarding this. People are just rrying to go viral and do the same stupid stuff over-and-over and just hope they get the next trend. Whether it is to get others to drink tidepods orbto steal a Hyundai belinging to someone just as a joke.

But companies like , , , , and are exploiting this because they are generating clicks, and they can show people ads. This is why they don't moderate these things.

The messed-up thing is that they then moderate and remove legit creators for stupid reasons and false copyright claims.

Social media is broken because it now has longer existed. It is just a bunch of advertisement companies with extra steps.

WordPress.com: Why Auto-Sharing Is Coming to an End

The idea here is that he'll get rent for the shop-fronts, while also getting a cut off all the transactions...

realcaseyrollins,

@unattributed That actually sounds like a good idea considering how much people use social media; but, we've never seen this done successfully because (both and have failed at this).

But, I was mostly referring to trying to become a home for articles. I doubt it will find a way to integrate them well; it's still a microblogging platform at heart, after all.

The idea of charging per article is pretty cool though.

Sure, they say it operates independently, but Musk must still retain significant influence and control through Twitter's stake. Moving from Twitter to Bluesky might seem like flipping off Musk, but is it really? Did moving from to make you feel like you just flipped off Zuckerberg?

Maybe this why Bsky is getting such a boost on birdsite right now. The goal was eventually to integrate it to Twitter (Verge reported).

Meanwhile, there is a true that is not built and controlled by billionaires.

@atomicpoet Shared this morning with my Instagram followers. It’s a fine line, wanting to lure people over while not being a broken record. I talk about a lot on platforms. It may be 1/3 to 1/2 of what I share there 😬 I dunno. I don’t care if I drive away followers really & I’m an artist. I’ve always shared a mix of my images, ideas, & journey. Choosing to spend time on the instead of & is part of that.

I’m on ice cubes app for iPhone without ability to scan text. Will replace this description ASAP.

Instagram import in 3 easy steps.

tinolass,

tinolass,

@pixelfed @pixelfed I have searched the internet and still have not found a solution. I only find posts that address the same problem.
How to motivate people to switch platforms if you can't take their timeline with you.
I know it's not Pixelfed's fault, but without a user-friendly import function, the motivation dwindles. And people stay on Instagram even though they're annoyed by ads and algorithms.
