I love it. There’s a poll ongoing about whether folks would ban a Meta (Instagram/Facebook) instance and people are like “well, I’d give them the benefit of the doubt.”

I really have no words.

Is it learned helplessness? Stockholm Syndrome? Masochism? Something else?

I just don‘t get it.

@aral I think this highlights the need to make ActivityPub a more diverse network where Mastodon isn't the only big player, but also things like , or the efforts of .

This doesn't really answer the question *, sure clients will have various monetization models (though WTH is transactions). The issue is what is the server/Bluesky PBLLC business model?

Are they going to start putting ads in the feed? Are they going to charge users or clients for access? Stay free and make it up in volume? I have no clue, not sure anyone does either.

@paul Would @tapbots consider building similar apps for (as well as it's variants like ), &

I believe @ivory is compatible with & (maybe Pixelfed too).

Misskey already has a great app called (by @fruitriin), but it's honestly the only phenomenal Misskey app available.

boasts numerous great apps (yours included), & I am hoping more developers create apps across multiple platforms.

@GothicAnon Thought of uploading it on a instance?

I would love to hear this!

And yeah, YouTube’s like that.

You can report problematic posts or profiles by clicking their ⋯ button and selecting "Report".

Remember to include links to problematic posts in your report. This saves the moderators a LOT of time, and means the moderation will happen much more quickly and accurately.

If possible, select the option to anonymously tell the account holder's server too. They can shut down the account if necessary. (However, if their server is problematic too, it might be best not to use this option.)

I just tested today that, when I reported recent spammer's comment on my video and the report was hastily approved, that sick comment didn't federate throughout most servers. Email notification was timely, hehe. In other scenario, it would likely still be visible to users of wider , as what I witness with one that I was slower to catch on.

I was thinking earlier that it would be pretty cool to have an -powered app that uses something like the old feature that, in turn, supports post formats that other services use.

For example, the app can post regular posts like this one, structured link posts that work with services like , galleries through @pixelfed and videos through .

Unless automatically reformats posts based on what they contain when a user of services like these receives them in their feeds? I'm not sure how this works under the metaphorical hood. 🤔

@pfefferle Are you saying that the plugin supports post formats so you could share a video post to , a gallery post to @pixelfed, and so on, for example?

Trying to migrate from YouTube to PeerTube?

PeerTube Companion, a Firefox extension, will redirect you to a PeerTube version of a video, when trying to reach it from YouTube -- if it's available on PeerTube.

It's under heavy development, so use at your own risk.

This is great because, similar to people moving from tk , we get here and don't know anyone, and it's like moving music apps. Your playlists are all gone.

So if I can move from to and my subscriptions are already there, it would make the move so much easier!

List of fedi platforms I have tried/use in no particular order:

  • Probably most of you reading this is using it, but overall it's a fairly user friendly platform and has gotten people into the fediverse

  • Tbh haven't used it much but it seems like it has good potential
Not my kind of thing, but for those who like things more like instagram I'd check it out

  • What I'm currently using, I really like it so far
    It's beautiful and feature-rich

  • I use it occasionally as it has some media I do enjoy, but I do wish more people would upload to it

  • Same issue with peertube, not having many people upload
Also felt kinda wonky to work with but may have been the instances I tried

I would like to end this by saying, try new things on fedi
It helps keep the ecosystem healthy and you may find something you like more

One of the things I love about the Fediverse is that it is growing in about 8 different directions and they all cohere.

From look at the top software undergirding the Fedi:

, , are all playing substantial roles...but are not "forks' of Mastodon but are entirely different apps, which benefit from Mastodon, and give value back to it. And are one Fediverse.
