Be wary of New York Times articles by Maggie Haberman and Mike Schmidt that ostensibly address Trump's outrageous actions, but in substance actually normalize and both-sides this illegal behavior.
This is what this cleanup crew does time and time again. Likely Team Trump know some sort of legal action to curtail his threats is coming, and once again these trusted newshapers are thrust out ahead of events to sculpt public opinion.
The #NewYorkTimes is bad, right? Carrying water for the #GOP, right?
There are individuals who buck that trend but in general. We agree, right?
And we agree the GOP is #fascist or at least fascist friendly, right?
And we know, don't we, that there are many in the GOP, especially the old guard, who don't mind the fascism but, like any good fascist, would be happy to stick a knife in #Trump's back if it did l suited them. Right?
Then why do you think they're just being silly boosting #Haley?
It’s been gratifying to see more people on social media recognizing that the #NewYorkTimes is a bunch of #Trump apologists and a Republican Party mouthpiece.
Only just today, the @nytimes published an “editor’s note” on their #Gaza#hospital misreporting:
“On Oct 17, The #NewYorkTimes published news of an explosion at a hospital in Gaza City, leading its coverage w/claims by #Hamas govt ofcls that an Israeli airstrike was the cause & that hundreds of people were dead or injured.
#Columbia Students Arrested Over Campus Rally May Face Other Consequences -
Students who camped in tents to protest the war in #Gaza, including the daughter of Representative #IlhanOmar, may be barred from finishing the semester.
By the way, in case anybody is interested in seeing who votes for whom, the New York Times has an interactive tracker and it doesn’t appear to be behind a paywall.
EDIT: It looks like there might be a paywall for some people after all ☹️
Why are mainstream media outlets — looking at you, New York Times — arrogantly insistent on continuing their both-sides framing of Trump's current behavior? Dan Froomkin has some thoughts about this:
"On one side, you’ll find the traditionalists: the older, whiter, and supremely comfortable elite national and political writers and editors who are deeply invested in the current order."
Mark Jacobs on the (puerile — my word) boredom of New York Times reporters faced with a Trump-Biden rematch:
"The most important reason that this year’s election is no rerun is that Trump’s dictator talk has gotten progressively worse. It’s clear that this November’s election will be a referendum on democracy vs. fascism. It will be an election to decide whether it’s our last fair election."
Jamison Foser notes that, though New York Times keeps offering its readers mendacious articles about how Trump is "moderate" or "less vulnerable" than strongly anti-abortion Republicans, his actual record speaks loudly and clearly:
I am not fond of David Brooks, but I certainly understand why he finds the Cass Report so compelling.
For cisgender people who have no pre-existing knowledge, it's really a perfect document. It is completely decorous while implying that there are too many trans people and efforts should be made to limit their numbers.#trans#transgender#news#journalism#newyorktimes
