It is the first no confidence vote against a president in the college’s history.
Circulating word is that #LAPD plans to disperse #UCLA Palestinian solidarity encampment at 6. A number of groups including faculty and campus unions are planning on rallying in defense. Meanwhile an administrator has entered the camp to negotiate
And then there were four: “Rutgers and the University of Minnesota now join Northwestern and Brown in successfully reaching deals to peacefully end their encampment protests.”
“When members of the public are engaged in a peaceful #protest in a public space—assuming they are not obstructing traffic, or disrupting campus activities—there is very little legal basis for law enforcement to demand they leave.”
Northwestern may be the model for other universities:

Most of the student protesters on Columbia’s campus were peaceful. For the NYPD Chief of Patrol to generalize, lie, & mischaracterize their actions & speech in the protest, in response to a Member of Congress, is beyond the pale.

Cops immediately showing up, even within minutes, to arrest students and faculty.
Cops tasing people, shooting tear gas and other projectiles at those who are peacefully protesting.
College admins suspending students and evicting them from campus housing.
