How long do we tolerate #spam from an instance? If new accounts are still popping up to spam us after a week, I think we are justified in concluding that the instance is #unmoderated (#admins can lock down signups), and #block the whole instance. Or am I being too harsh?
Does anyone know if there's a way, in #Firefox (preferably without add-ons), for me to #block entire websites/domains ? The same way in Mastodon you can block an entire instance, in a way.
Basically I'm trying to think of ways to block all those clearly #AI-generated content farms, for instance when I search something about a videogame or a TV show.
I can't for the life of me remember the domain names of each one I get sent to by accident via a search.
Jack Dorsey is actually in charge of Block (the parent company of Square, like Alphabet is for Google), so we can all blame him for this bunch of layoffs.
For a while now i'm working on a Voxel game + Editor, that does have some unique mechanics, and is not just a copy of a popular game.
It's entirely written in rust, bevy and egui. I started the project last year in April
These images are mostly from my Discord Server, that i kinda use as a Dev Diary (let me know, if you're interested btw)
How does it work over here that people who block you can still reply to your posts but you can't reply to them?
Asking for myself, as an idiot just insulted me because, well, disagreements, but when I wanted to see who this person his, I was blocked.
Which...whatever, I would have block them anyway, but they shouldn't be able to see and reply to me if they blocked me, no?
If anyone wonders why nitter.net stopped working, it's due to Njalla domain provider suspending dev's account... after someone made a complaint about nudity images. More absurdly, links are from other instance: nitter.it https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/issues/1150
At best, this is extremely shortsighted and premature decision by Njalla because Nitter is simply Twitter's frontend. At worst, it's a deliberate attempt to pressure on Nitter devs once again
Ryan and Nicole Waite two proud western chauvinists of 710 idlewood Dr, Connersville, IN. 47331. They are a hick married couple, that are possibly related.
They like mouthing off, and starting fights. They also like to pay fascist maga judges for unfair court rulings, and stealing from the homeless.
Ryan comes off as a hick, if not a kook. Nicole is mostly a fascist maga slut that will happily steal from a homeless person.
Thank you for your follow request.
I require decent behavior from.my followers.
I agree with a lot of your content.
This, however, is #doxing, regardless of the persons (and thus even illegal in some countries.) The livense plate is readable!
Unacceptable and earns you the 1st #block of the week!
"Doxing (sometimes written as Doxxing) is the act of revealing identifying information about someone online, such as their real name,... "
“It’s perfectly okay to use the block function on any and every single platform. Block whoever you want. Block liberally. Block joyously. It’s not rude; it’s not an act of censorship, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation.”
Three years ago today the US Capitol was attacked by rioters incited by Donald #Trump to overthrow the government. Hours later 68% of House republicans voted to finish the job and make trump a dictator. Here are their names.
I just suspended the 'kbin.social' domain from our side, the issues on their side is happening for days now and it really effects our service backend now also.. If they have it all solved we will remove the block and we can refollow again Sorry about this but we don't have other options
@sammi seeing people using terms like War Monger next to USA in the context of #Russianagression in #Ukraine is a good way to spot the #kremlin mouthpieces and #propagandists, whether here on Fedi, or other social networks. Congratulations. Hope #tankies like you like living in a #block from now on!
Anyone notice the newsmast.community seems to have bots that boost hashtags? It’s sort of like the group bot— but why #hashtags? Might as well follow a hashtag not an account. That just ads an extra layer of complexity.
Three different accounts from them boosted me so far. Mine are the only posts there for each of these accounts. Cannot help but think something odd is going on at newsmast.community instance. Just about ready to #block them. #mastodon#fediverse
With debate raging in the Fedi about Threads’ federation, I was having a discussion with another user about the recently implemented instance blocks. They pointed out that, blocking an instance simply hides their content from your feed but doesn’t prevent your posts from being sent to them. Firstly, is this correct? Is this...
I don’t know but the mastodon documentation does not mention this: docs.joinmastodon.org/user/moderating/#block-doma…
Personally I’d expect that anything I post on social media is being public and freely accessible by anyone if they want to. If you don’t want the information to be used by others you probably should not share it with the world.
🧵1/3 Tested for you: If I #block an #instance or people privately, I can no longer interact with them after a short wait, even though I can still see the profile. But I have tried this with #Threads and it does NOT work!
Regardless of whether I block the whole domain or just one account (test with Insta-Boss), I can still interact and comment (he probably, too?). So I will have to move to another instance with #blockThreads ▶️ https://fedipact.online/#privacy#dataSecurity#GDPR@Gargron
Blocking prevents the other user or server fetching and seeing your posts. But since #threads isn't fetching your data right now, blocking #threads makes no difference in that regard.
Blocking also means that it does not actively show you content of blocked users.
But it does not prevent you from seeing them. That's natural because you can always access any content of users you have blocked by using a different server or logging out.
@deborahh I could interact after blocking the instance AND the account (Screenshot 1). But I learnt that individual "blocks" are in reality only filters: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/moderating/#block
It's different to a block made by an instance.
You can try it yourself because it can be different on other instances. Some already blocked Thr. See links in my 🧵 and here: https://fedipact.online/

mstdn.social has blocked kbin.social (mstdn.social)
