Hello! I'm Elliot. The birdsite was always my favorite social network, so I'm hoping this actually takes off as an alternative. #TwitterMigration#TwitterExodus
I recently graduated from the Uni of Strathclyde where I studied #politics and IR. I was a full-time #student officer for 2 years, including as the President of the Students’ Union in 2021/22. It was a wild six years! 👨🏻🎓
I voted Yes in 2014, aged 16, and I would vote Yes again in a heartbeat. 🏴
Introductions are in order. I'm Mochyn, once again fleeing from the binfire that is twitter. I'm a #welsh#medievalist and #annibyniaeth supporting #queer. #socialist. He/him. Shitposting abounds. I apologise for everything and nothing
With this new wave I figured I would make a new #introduction:
Hi, I'm Nathan. I live in #Michigan and work in #IT. I'm #Network+ certified and currently am studying for my #Security+ exam. (I'm also currently looking for a new job so let me know if you are #hiring.)
i am a total shitposter, i work in #infosec for a fortune 500, and am generally family focused when i'm not working or online.
i blue team, i love the SIEM space, love the automation space, and deal with the IR space.
don't follow me for good infosec information, my socmedia is more to blow off steam, scream at the cloud, and be chill.
i am a good listener, deeply atheistic #satanist, a dirtbag anarcho #socialist, gun nut who can't own guns (curious kids), and fanatically #LGBTQIA+ friendly.
looking for people that are cool with sharing misery most of the time, but sometimes (rarely) i dabble in the dark art of being fun.
I'm also a big ol' nerd who loves the #BlueJays and #Raptors, alongside the usual nerd topics of #videogames etc. Also I dabble in playing a bunch of instruments, primarily #Bass, with some dabbling on #drums and #guitar
Honestly, it's quite annoying that the vast majority of #tech#podcasts are hosted by #SilliconValley#techbros. A lot of the content is quite useful, and I do get to learn useful things that I didn't know before.
But just the total lack of, anything but superficial, criticism of the big tech companies, just accepting whatever nonsense they release without question, the horrible grindset mentality, and the toxic positivity just wears me down so much.
#art#history: i was just watching her in 'elizabeth is missing', so drew her a farewell as i did so. glenda smashed every role she undertook, from 'women in love' to 'mothering sunday' - &, of course, alongside murray head & peter finch in 'sunday bloody sunday'...but my favourite of her blockbusters were her showstopping parliamentary eviscerations of the tories. damned right, glenda jackson will rest in power. #glendaJackson#film#illustration#cinema#socialist#feminist
My #handgun range time starts with trying for a CCDW qualification cold (20 shots on target as fast as possible). Then I spend 25-30 rounds in 5 shot intervals to see how to increase accuracy, focusing on every detail. Then Mozambique drills with a reload every 6 shots.
I do something similar with #rifle drills until I get tired, run out of bullets, or get bored.
Eventually I will replace the Mozambique drill with Casino drills.
Welp, my extended vacation time has come to an end. It's been a fun couple of months, but today, I'm stoked to start at #CISA, aka the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. I'm very much looking forward to US #government service work.
While I've spent pretty much all of my career involved in #opensource, #public work in #cybersecurity, it's always been under the aegis of corporate sponsorship, so there was always some tension between giving away my work for free versus quarter over quarter earnings and profits and all that.
Now, I'm really leaning into living that #socialist lifestyle and taking a break from capitalism -- let's see how this #publicsector life goes!
CISA is a very, very young bureaucracy; it was founded in 2018, so we're just now figuring out how this whole "America's Cyber Defense" business works, and I'm excited to be a part of that.
Unfortunately, although I'm now a government official, I can't fix your parking tickets or get you out of jury duty. Please stop asking.
Moving from koyu.space to here due to the shutdown. Thought about hosting my own, but decided against it at the last minute. Guess this means I have to do another #introduction
2/ Instead of seeing religion as always reactionary, we can acknowledge that religion operates across the political spectrum. Historically, religion played a role in the Haitan slave revolution, the US civil rights movement and South American liberation theology
3/ Today, religion is far from uniformly reactionary — in the US for instance, the rise of Christian nationalism is being opposed by religious people and organisations who support LGBT rights and workers' struggle, through groups like the Institute for Christian Socialism
5/ The traumas and mental struggles caused by our present crises not only create individual misery, but also dampen participation in collective political movements. Spiritual practice however is very beneficial to mental health, and can help to break that loop
