Elvet Bridge, Durham City.
Top is a painting (Louise J. Rayner) c1900, bottom is my photo from last week.
Such a beautiful city, this bridge takes you up the hill to the castle and cathedral, got to be one of my favourite places in the UK.

Don't think I've ever seen a kingfisher at the coast before, a bit of a quick phone 'snap' before it flew off.

We don't see much of it, but when the sun does make an appearance, it does it with style

With loads of white fruit, the Red Osier Dogwood attracts the berry loving birds, especially the American Robin. The Robins are enjoying the fruit immensely and are a joy to watch as they flit in and out of this very attractive bush in Guelph Ontario Canada.

Great to see the nacreous clouds locally yesterday, these are hardly ever seen in the UK as very specific conditions are needed, and as one of the highest clouds in the atmosphere, it is typically referred to as 'mother-of-pearl.
Ice crystals form and refract the light rays to give vivid rainbow effects.

This very handsome drake Mallard was waddling on the snowy ground near the river in Guelph Ontario Canada on a lovely winter day. The iridescent bottle green white collar dabbler was eating snow while looking for the corn that some children had thrown to feed the ducks and geese.

The Common Loon appears on Canadian currency, including the one-dollar "loonie" coin and the previous series of $20 bills. It is the provincial bird of Ontario. Loons have long been considered by many North Americans as beautiful and special, symbolizing wilderness and solitude.

The Red Cardinal Flower or Lobelia Cardinalis, is a native summer blooming wildflower that loves water and can be found along streambanks, ponds and swamps. It has a deep red velvety flower with deep green foliage and the Hummingbirds and Butterflies love it.

Just a few more weeks and we'll be hitting my favourite season 🍁🍂
I love the 'bers'
Looking forward to walking in the woods catching some more fabulous woodland scenes like this one.

A Pileated Woodpecker is a very large, striking, forest bird with red crest and white and black plumage. This juvenile Pileated Woodpecker could hear me, and then saw me, but was more interested in the foraging for food in the cracks of the bark on the trees.

Well it's not just the Monarch Butterflies that like the Milkweed plant, it's also the bees. We have an abundance of the native flowers blooming right now in the fields and the bees were all over them.

Sunset, a wonderful time of day, it can be so magical to watch.
The sky doesn't always 'pop', but when it does it's worth getting a shot or two.

Haven't seen one of these for years and years, when suddenly this cute little hedgehog wanders past.
Worrying really as he should be thinking about getting tucked up somewhere warm for the winter.

I was awake nice and early in this famously damp city.
Already looked like it was going to be a fab day, love this place 🙂
