My debut EP is FINALLY ready for your ears! It's an emotional, melodic journey through love, loss, and personal demons, but wrapped in a catchy, cathartic rock & roll package.

I think you're gonna love it!

It's available at 10 days ahead of streaming platforms, and each $4 purchase also bundles in the original demos of each song. Turn it up, sing along, and rock out!

Last year the code for the PSX game Wipeout was leaked and this chap rewrote the code so you can play the game in the browser for free. I made a video about it, it's deffo worth a look.

Forget about "supporting the arts".

Support artists. There are more talented artists on the than I could ever hope to properly patronize.

That's not going to stop me from trying. 😅 Would you please help me?

Does anyone have a good resource to do some research on which I should try next? I've been using / for over 10 years now (daily driving for the most recent year) and i've finally had it with . I'm intrested in other based distros, as well as and , but I'd like a good overview of the major differences.

Avoid missing attachments in Thunderbird with attachment keywords that you can customize!

Go to Thunderbird Menu > Settings > Composition, and scroll to 'Attachments.' Click on 'Keywords' to maintain YOUR custom keyword list. 📎

If you're, ahem, strategically not attaching documents when you say you've attached them, you can turn reminders off across Thunderbird in Attachment Settings - or disable reminders for the current message when the attachment reminder pops up. 😉

I often get asked something like:

"Why work on email clients? Isn't Gmail what most people use?"

The answer: a ton of people use Gmail and O365/Outlook. So many that it is endangering the email standard. But Email is the most decentralized communication technology out there - and great clients help protect that. So that folks can have a great email experience, regardless of the server/provider they use.

Protect email. Use Thunderbird.

@killyourfm when you're young, music can often be a huge part of your identity. Specifically which genres and artists you're into and the various fashion trends that go with it etc. Humans are inherently tribal and as a kid you explore ideas of tribalism through music. But then when you get old enough to not care about being cool, you can enjoy a Miley song or two because they are great and she's an amazing singer.

Major labels get more profit, smaller indie labels and unsigned artists get less.

"A new threshold of minimum annual streams that a track must meet before it starts to generate royalties. The threshold, according to MBW, will de-monetize tracks that had previously received 0.5% of Spotify’s royalty pool."

fluffy,

Artists: hey Spotify the way you pay artists is unfair and imbalanced, you should fix it
Spotify: you’re right, we do pay too much to smaller bands

offers as a service (called Storage Share) with a 1TB of storage for only €5.11/month. That's a really nice price for a privacy-respecting, Europe-based personal .
They also offer a 1TB of just storage for 3.89/month in case you already have an instance of Nextcloud and want to expand its storage capacity.

I wrote about my first two months on Mastodon. I was a Mastodon hater because I thought it would be weird, complicated, or dead. It's been none of those things.

I'm ashamed I didn't join earlier and I'm ashamed I haven't been telling people to join it, because it's a version of the internet and social media I've long advocated for with my reporting: decentralized, portable, user controlled, not corporate:

Like the legend of the phoenix, we're resurrecting Mozilla Send, an end-to-end encrypted file share service, and bringing it under our wings as Thunderbird Send. In this clip from S1E5 of the ThunderCast, developer Chris Aquino gives us a sneak peek of the new - wait, old - er, reborn project!

Learn how Send will help you overcome your file upload woes, respect your privacy, safeguard against abuse, and hopefully change your experience for the better.

Songtradr fired half the staff at bandcamp, and that signals a dark future for bandcamp as a company.

So we're going to do something about it:

@djsundog and I are launching a project to build federated, open source, alternative.

We're building this because we need it. We're doing it ourselves because it will become a part of the larger media production and distribution ecosystem we have planned.

We welcome other open source projects, and we might even contribute to a few of them, but for the next several months, this is our full time gig.

Long term vision: https://mountaintown.technology/
