By far my favourite bit of architectural ironwork in Glasgow, and possibly anywhere in the world! It can be found on D.B. Dobson's 1902 Art Nouveau commercial building at 50 Darnley Street in Glasgow.
Recently got a hard drive that was in my parents' home 8000 miles away. Photos that I thought were boring at the time (in 2009) are now so nostalgic, given the circumstances:
A photo of Palmyra, the famous Roman ruins in Homs, Syria, in 2009 before ISIS blew it up.
The smiling faces of Bayon under the Milky Way in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. These serene faces are believed to be of King Jayavarman VII. Scattered throughout the complex they instill a sense of peace and tranquility. Copyrighted
Santa Fe blue doors are usually found adorning old adobe style homes and are a symbol of the architectural charm of this Southwestern city, the capital of New Mexico. The blue is a symbol of the sky and a vibrant contrast to the earth toned adobe. Not just doors, they are artistic expressions.
The Meteora Monasteries are a breathtaking view of man's ingenuity and nature. Located in central Greece, monks during the 14th century took refuge from invading forces by building on top of towering rock formations that appear to touch the heavens.
Not something you see every day! A vertical mixed use entertainment district. Cafes and bars mixed with shops and housing on every floor in a transformed nine-storey 1960s apartment tower. This is the “Cafe Apartments” in Ho Chi Minh City. #architecture#vietnam#urbanism#cities
