@schenklklopfer@rick@thomas funktioniert schon, aber keiner Garantiert, dass es bei allen Servern ankommt, die den Post original gesehen haben. Außerdem kann keiner Garantieren, dass alle Beteiligten Server überhaupt auf das löschen reagieren oder es zB rausgepatcht haben.
Löschen in dezentralen Systemen ist immer so nen Ding. Einer der Gründe warum zB die gängigen XMPP Clients kein löschen können...
Am Sonntag kommt die Ausgabe zu meinem 1-Jaehrigen auf #Mastodon & im #Fediverse und von daher wuerde ich mich echt ueber Feedback aus der Community freuen!

Besser deshalb, weil ich hier automatisch entsprechende Tweets spiegeln lasse und so die Infos bekomme, ohne bei Twitter sein zu müssen.
Um einer handvoll Accounts aus echtem Interesse aktiv zu folgen.
@nemobis are any proprietary things really billing themselves as alternatives to the fediverse rather than twitter? Sign of fediverse sucess if so, even if seems stupid strategy given twitter is still the giant (actually focusing on twitter rather than fb is probably stupid for the same reason).

For social media the fediverse is the "competitor"; are free "alternatives" to incumbents failing to learn the simple lesson that you pointed out?
@mlinksva I called them "alternatives" because some people believe they are and even proclaimed loudly that people would switch.
New proprietary social media mostly position themselves as the potential next billion-user AdTech carrier. Which is the problem.
It's harder to tell what a FLOSS project learnt, because the governance model is often informal and decisions zig-zag more. The recent mastodon.social announcement dismissing social learnings as needless "ideology" doesn't bode well.

The problem is that the moderation is not limited to one's server. They also ban other servers that do not follow their rules as well.
Now, it's even possible to import block list. Someone build a long list of servers to block, and others import it in their servers without knowing why each server was included in that list.

Hmm. Just importing block lists is a sign of either over worked or lazy admins. It's a problem that will in all likelihood solve itself as the Fediverse grows even more diverse.
Admins of the UK servers chat to one another, including chat about blocks, and from what I have seen, don't just blindly apply block lists.
With the ridiculous amounts of boosting I do, I should really enable #JustMyToots for my profile, at least until #Mastodon sets up a switch to do something similar automatically.
FWIW, I think the current approach to showing people's profiles and post list may no be the best one. I've seen other platforms (cohost maybe?) doing it with toggles, and I think it's a superior choice: instead of a separate “tab” you have a single list, but the option to hide/show replies, media posts, boosts etc.
Big surprise for me was how much mastodon.social is growing (especially given the tension about its dominance).
It's current trend is to grow by the equivalent of the 23rd largest instance per month while most (ie largest) instances are growing by 2% per month (ie a few thousand, which, guessing, would be something like the 300th largest instance or so ... ie small).
Calckey looks like it has some pretty awesome features. However, using it as a primary account would mean migrating and changing my handle. This makes me think that Bluesky may be onto something regarding "account portability" in the AT protocol. Being able to keep the same handle when migrating between providers sounds really appealing.
@atomicpoet That's great, I know people that have migrated between Mastodon instances and were frustrated with losing their post history. But that isn't the same thing as keeping the same handle. Decoupling provider and identify intrigues me. I'm not an expert but that doesn't seem to be a possibility in ActivityPub.

The things I can't do on #calckey from tusky click on my own profile edit search for people to follow but I can post and still got 3000 character limit so that's a plus am still committed to #mastodon just trying out something new

Good job I just got the "Mouse Mode" working on the pico version of the Quirkey. Will try to upload the changes using only the keyboard an see what else breaks.
I hear a lot about reconnecting with old communities after moving over to #Mastodon but less about this being a huge moment for new communities to be formed

Comparing "viral" threads on Masto vs Twitter, maybe the biggest difference is stuff just keeps going over here? It's neat but weird.
Twitter sorta murders posts after a few days unless they're truly mega viral, whereas Masto is just people's interests, and Masto is apparently full of Cheese Crew, who keep the cheese dream alive.
