🎸 Punk von indonesischen Arbeitsmigranten: Aufstand gegen Ausbeutung ✊
https://taz.de/Punk-von-indonesischen-Arbeitsmigranten/!5996177/

Also, kommt, Freunde, lasst uns schreien:

Arbeitsvermittlungen – Was für ein Chaos

Arbeitsvermittlungen – Zu nichts zu gebrauchen

Arbeitsvermittlungen – Verpisst Euch

Arbeitsvermittlungen – Verdammte Bestien.* "

on the complex of 'Tacky's revolt'

'The full history of Atlantic slavery is scarcely taught in the US or the UK, and so it’s not surprising that few people in either country know much about Tacky’s revolt. Until recently, however, I didn’t realise that Jamaicans don’t know this history much better. I had assumed that in a country with a Black majority population, which had emerged from one of the most brutal slave societies in human history, basic education would have offered a much better understanding of slavery and its legacies than the one I had received in the US. I was wrong.

'While no one in Jamaica denies the importance of slavery’s history, little is known about antislavery uprisings. I asked my friend Sutopa, a high school teacher in Massachusetts who grew up in Jamaica, what she had learned about slavery and slave revolt in primary school. She paused and pursed her lips, then shook her head and smiled ruefully: “Almost nothing.”'

Bob Marley’s “Legend” was released 40 years ago and has sold more than 25 million copies. The Ringer explains how the story that Legend tells about Marley continues to shape his legacy. But for some, it’s still not telling the right story. https://flip.it/woOiIg

Dread Zeppelin – “Un-Led-Ed” (1990)
UK release on I.R.S. Records
Limited edition picture disc LP

These guys were so fun, and I still really enjoy this album. I love when a band has a gimmick (mixing genres, mimicking famous bands, etc.) that they commit so fully to while also having the skills to really pull it off. ZEPPELIN MUSIC INNA REGGE STYLE!

I mean, even Robert Plant endorsed these guys, saying their version of “Your Time Is Gonna Come” was better than the original 🤯

And they were from Sierra Madre, CA. For me, that town is best known for where they keep all the floats right before the start of the Rose Parade. 🌹

Side B shows the band name in similar font to side A at the top of the disc. Black background with picture of the band in the trunk of a pink car. Fat Elvis character is on the left in full 70s era Elvis garb
