When a folk tale is called "The Death of the Seven Dwarves", then you know it's going to be good.

Basically, a farmer's girl lost her way in the forest and stumbled across a hut inhabited by seven dwarves. She asked them for a place to stay for the night, and received it (after the dwarves argued about who would get the honor of giving up his bed for the girl).

A short term later, a farmer woman arrived. When the girl opened the door and explained that there was no more space, the farmer woman suspected her of being the lover of all seven dwarves, called her a wanton woman, and then fetched two men who killed the dwarves, buried the corpses in the dwarves' garden, and burned down the hut (the girl, however, had managed to escape).

Imagine an online space where you could go to not only receive the latest news about actions in your locality, but also share information about campaigns or events – without driving more traffic to the digital capitalists of Facebook and Twitter, who continue to ban anti-fascists.

Those who recall will not only be familiar with the concept, but also lament its lack of editorial oversight and eventual collapse under the weight of conspiracy theories and anti-Semitism that have no place in antifascist media.

Last year, the celebrated writers at The Canary overthrowing management and becoming a workers’ co-operative. But even now, much like the (a private company with directors), still faces a battle for online clicks within the commercial landscape.

It’s useful to remember that the term “freedom of the press” did not originally mean the media marketplace, but literally the freedom to publish using a printing press: , based on the spirit of .

It is mutual aid that inspired the name of France’s that today has over a dozen regional websites in not just , but also and , reporting on striking workers, occupying students, and other local struggles, operated in a non-hierarchical but also non-commercial way – true citizen journalism, with a set of agreed standards.

Several of us media activists have started to discuss how we could develop Local Autonomous Media (or ) in the UK after hearing about the success of . We’ve set up chat groups and even held Jitsi meetings online with Mutu contributors in Switzerland. And we’re looking to set in place the building blocks to create something similar in the UK.

🧵 I'm browsing 'Zivilverteidigung,' the Swiss national defence book from 1969.
The Swiss took their nuclear defence very seriously. Many buildings (my own included) are still built today with nuclear bunkers in the cellars.
The UK's own 'Protect & Survive' booklet was 30 pages, whereas, the Swiss 'Zivilverteidigung' is 320 pages.
Great graphic design, too. Here's a thread of random images.

: A group of children once encountered a "fiery man" next to a boundary stone, and only one boy recognized him as his dead godfather.

Thus, it was determined that the boy should help save the ghost. He was given blessed items as well as a hoe and a spade, and was told to give the latter to the ghost when he was mucking around the boundary stone.

The ghost took them, and used them to move the boundary stone to its original location from where he had wrongly taken it from in life.

Then the ghost exclaimed: "Now I am saved! In exchange, you too shall enter Heaven in three days!"

And, indeed, the boy died three days later.

"More than 60,000 protesters gathered in the Swiss capital on Saturday demanding tougher policies to combat , organisers said, less than a month ahead of a national election.

Such large protests are rare in and show growing public frustration with the pace of policy-making to combat despite ample evidence of its impact."

At this point, it seems the Swiss (federal and apparently canton, police in particular) approach to cybersecurity is to have everything and all data hacked and available on the darknet. This will make any future investment in this space superfluous since there’s nothing to hack that’s not already known.

In , a key hub for oil trading, many traditional players have pulled out of the market only to be replaced by opaque, “pop up” traders whose buying and selling activity is uncannily similar to some firms based in the Alpine nation. It's almost impossible to track who is behind these new traders and whether Swiss nationals and companies are involved.

Switzerland will pay Ukrainian refugees up to $4,000 to return home.

The report therefore concludes that everything must be done to encourage voluntary departures. The departure time should neither be too short – to allow for logistical planning of the return – nor too long, so as not to encourage people to postpone it.

To this end, the plan suggests a time frame of six to nine months.

German Chancellor Olaf #Scholz set the scene for the gathering on Tuesday: “Nobody should have exaggerated expectations,” Scholz said in an interview published on Tuesday. “We are not negotiating the end of the war there.”
