I make silly animations & pictures. Everything I post is made by me, unless clearly stated otherwise.

Interested in all thing visual (#Animation #Photography #sillyScribbles) and many things relating to #Politics, #HumanRights & the world around us.

Have been known to meticulously edit photos to create something fantastical, but quite often just scribble on things.

Leans to the left. Quite a lot. Full of woke nonsense, & quite happy about it. She/her.

This is my main social media account.

Been meaning to say, if anyone has a pet that they are desperate to see in a Santa hat but either 1. thinks it would be an indignity to make them wear one or 2. would like to avoid their pet taking appropriate revenge for the indignity, do share a photo with me & I'll happily do a virtual version if I can!

I realise in the days of AI and photo filters you don't need a photoshopper anymore, but just in case anyone wants an artisnal version 🎅 🐱 🐶

Observation for the Day

In the absence of context I read the word DOING as an onomatopoeic sound that rhymes with BOING.

Having established that dandelion seed heads are definitely NOT known as DANDELION CLOCKS by everyone I have a follow on question...

What DO you know them as?

Chatting to people already I have had FLUFFS (Lithuania) and WINDY PUFFS (Canada) both of which are SUPERB.

Are there any others? Will there be enough to make a World Map of Dandelion Names?! 😃

Places, names & any other trivia welcome!

Good morning Mastodon. I hope you're having a nice day.

In my head, when I saw the sign, this was very funny. I accept the possibility that it's only funny to me, but just in case...

I close so many websites within seconds these days.

Look at this one. To read one (probably) crappy article there would be 322 organisations keeping track.

Three hundred and twenty-two.

Nah, I'm good thanks.

A chat on here yesterday reminded me of the 1980's film The Apple which is... well... something.

I made a few gifs from it a few years back & thought I'd lost them, but my digital hoarding habit is victorious.

Going to do a wee thread of them, as they make me giggle so much they will surely entertain someone else as well.

I don't usually just grab clips from other media, but it's quite an obscure film & I'd not seen any others circling about so...

Close up of a mans face. He is bearded, with eye make-up and a symbol on his forehead. He wears a slightly shiny grey suit and bow tie, with white shirt. He looks coquettishly at the camera.

You know when you have a video loop, but to make it loop something disappears in an improbable manner?

And you think, that's a shame, because I really like this little clip.

And you could crop it so, for example, a bird doesn't disappear in mid-flight, but then it looks unbalanced so you need to find some unobtrusive way for the bird to disappear so it appears natural?

Yeah. That.

I think I need a quiet lie down.

A short video loop of the sea splashing up some rocks. In the foreground there is long grass. On the left the cliffs of the headland. A gull flies in from the right hand side most of the way across the image. At that point the cliff, which has cartoon eyes and a slither of a mouth drawn on, opens its mouth wide, flipping the clifftop up, and eating the bird. Because why else would it disappear at that point? It made no sense.

If you blow on a dandelion seed head in just the right way, you get to meet one of these cuties. Nice.

So, car roof tents. Did everyone else know about these?

Saw one today, setup in a local car park, and I am a bit befuddled by them.

I mean, on the one hand, that's quite a cool way to get a decent mobile bed without a big motor-home.

But also, it's a tent that's attached to your car. And that feels odd.

It's amazing how quickly fungi appears. Yesterday there were a few scattered around this wooden planter in the garden, today it was fully surrounded. LOADS of them.

Fortunately they are very friendly, and hope you all have a lovely day.

Lunchtime train of thought...

  • Hey, that moss looks like a figure, reaching out

  • I should add a Santa hat

  • Hang on, it's the winter solstice isn't it? I should add antlers.

  • Hmm. That doesn't work with the Santa hat. Wonder if it would work in green.

  • Hmmm.

Goes down a bit of a solstice rabbit hole

  • Oh. I'm a day early for solstice.

  • Bah.

posts anyway

Warning! In order to find the following gif even remotely entertaining (or, indeed, comprehensible) you will probably need:

  1. Knowledge of a particular childhood song

  2. Understanding of the British summer picnic, with their combination of grumbling & determination

  3. To be familiar with a particular informal English word (I have no idea how common it is)

Basically this is a pretty awful niche joke & the funniest thing at the moment is me trying not to 'spoil' it with the 3 points above.

Photo based animation. Four sad looking teddy bears drop down in turn on to a blanket on a beach. Each moans about something as they drop in. The first holds a sandwich ("My sandwich is yukky. I don't like lettuce."). The second holds a shortbread biscuit ("This biscuit is wrong. I wanted a custard cream."). The third holds a banana ("My banana is too yellow. And bends too much."). The final one says "I've got sand in my pants. And not in a good way." Finally a picnic basket drops in along with the text "Because today's the day the teddy bears have their nitpick!"

Another odd thing. I saw this rotting flower & was immediately transported back to my aunt's bathroom & the crocheted doll that used to sit on top of the toilet roll.

Which is a little unkind about my old aunt's decor really, as her doll had a delightful pink dress as I recall with no rotting involved at all, but the shape is just perfect.

Right. That's this mornings odd observations (oddservations?!) out of the way over coffee, now to Sensible Things.

Red squirrels in the Queen Elizabeth forest in the Trossachs.

LOOK AT THEIR TUFTY FLUFFINESS!

Taken with a hand held camera because I wasn't expecting to video, I was there to get snaps of the birds from the bird hide, but they were were just so cute.

Also cheeky, stealing ALL THE NUTS.

Video footage of red squirrels on a tree trunk with a bird nut feeder attached to it. They circle around it, chasing each other, before one stops to have a good old munch of nuts, before the other reappears and they dash off up the tree.

The end of a long day

Thought Myfanwy & friend could visit Hopper's Nighthawks.

Wasn't sure what to call the adaptation, but realise the obvious name is Nighthen.

As well as representing Myfanwy it is what someone in Scotland might say on their way to bed, which is what I'm about to do.

'Night hen! 💤
