Why is this even a contract managed by the cops? Really seems like anything involving bodycam management should not be run by the corrupt cops.

Permeable sidewalks #FTW! It’s drenching rain in #WestSeattle this morning and look at the difference between these two surfaces. Better for walking and better for the water table!
Are they as durable as regular sidewalks? NYC is one of the places where people wear the sidewalks out with their feet sometimes before the ice and weather get to it.
@loke@KevinFreitas Well they permit water infiltration into groundwater so that can counter subsidence and replenish groundwater in an impermeable surface situation. That can be useful if your locality depends on groundwater for municipal water supply.
As for climate specific results from this? Either the groundwater replenishment for resilience or these permeable materials create less or no CO2 compared to concrete or need no hydrocarbons like asphault. But I do not know how they are made.
Unexpectedly ran into another one of Thomas Dambo’s giant troll sculptures while out walking in a park. This time on Vashon Island. I knew they were around - it’s pretty amazing to just walk along and suddenly there it is. This one has a crown of birdhouses.

Are they seriously expecting anyone to believe that the president and vice president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild will be objectively investigated? This is like the police investigating themselves. Oh wait; it actually is the police investigating themselves. Again.
While we're at it, do they really think anyone will believe that the elected guild officials don't represent the values of the police force?

The regular person comment is a dead giveaway. Contempt for civilians is an ingrained part of police culture.

It felt so weird coming back in from the cool air and night magic to a stuffy house where even just the hall light being on felt too bright. I wanted to keep the lights off and let my eyes stay large and dark to see the hidden mysteries. I wanted to just stay outside and bathe in the light of the Aurora Borealis.
I feel like it seeped into my bones. I’ve eaten food from the Realm of the Fae.
Also, we should take this moment to remind citizens of other states how damn easy it is to vote in WA if you have a stable residence.
I get my ballot in the mail a couple weeks early. I fill it out at my leisure. I drop it in a box at my local library (or if that’s inconvenient, drop it in the mail).
There are no lines ever. Nobody gets arrested for handing out water bottles. Nobody has to take time off work.
@gairdeachas that’s super helpful! Also, I believe that you can register and vote in person on the same day at a County elections office. From the Wa Secretary of State -
“To register by mail or online, your application must be received no later than 8 days before Election Day. Register to vote in person during business hours and any time before 8:00 PM on Election Day.”
So, here's what I know about the Library Chicken. My son was at the Central Branch doing microfiche research up on the 9th floor.
At 5 pm, he said he sat up to take a break and a saw full grown, live chicken run, full speed, across his line of sight and launch itself (in that weird way chickens do when they try to fly) down the stairs.
Several minutes later, he says he saw two security guards running in the direction of the chicken.
By this point, I assume, the chicken had escaped and security was left with a mystery. That, or there's a chicken haunting the Central Branch tonight. Either are acceptable in my view, really.
I, and apparently loads of other people (judging from the boosts), would love to have the 411 on the Library Chicken.
