We don’t just refrain from publishing videos if violence because the public would find them disturbing. It’s out of respect and not to further retraumatise family, neighbors and friends. Wall to wall gore is also not how you best reach people emotionally and humanise victims.

This is an outstanding reply to, and analysis of that Pamela Paul column in the New York Times that began this way:

"A paper that says science should be impartial was rejected by major journals. You can’t make this up."

Dave Karpf, an academic, takes it apart. He also testifies as a particiant in the peer review system. Worth your time.

Microsoft's AI is boosting fake stories about sex changes for toddlers on the MSN service, blindly furthering the extreme right's project to eliminate trans people.

The issue with MSN's algorithmic aggregation after they fired their human team was first brought to their attention last December, when the service boosted fake stories about Bigfoot and Mermaids.

lol… just listening to the podcast about how BS is already shadow banning users in an effort to censor “nude” content. Their framing is so condescending.

“Oh golly. Gosh darn it. Those tiny new internet startups should’ve known better.” types of comments abound.

It was almost like the pod was pandering to an investor.

Does anyone know how many news outlets billionaire Dorsey influences via investments?

@fediversenews

kevin,

@goodthinking @fediversenews 🤣🤣🤣

But seriously … they get framed as a tiny helpless baby startup that is mysteriously being hyped… the portrait of naïveté…

The disingenuousness of this is blinding.

BS was started years ago in a huge company owned by billionaires. It’s still owned by a billionaire. Nothing naive at all.

Edit: I’m from Detroit, too ✊
