With BeMyAI and Lookout on the rise and existing services like Seeing AI and Envision being out there, it seems like a lot of #blind people are trying to become familiar with phone cameras and their interfaces. There are a lot of questions about camera positioning--e.g., how to point, how to stand, what will be covered, etc.
Then I found out that different programs have different places where they store this information.
Some use the image's embedded data (EXIF etc.).
👍 You can move the file around and the information doesn't get lost.
👎 Not all image/media types support this option
👎 The file itself gets modified, so also the timestamp
What service do you use to #share a bunch of #photos with friends and family (avoiding the obvious mega services available)? I'm looking for something with a low barrier web interface (no account, private link access), download capability, and maybe self-deleting after a few days. Preferably #privacyrespecting and #opensource.
Browsing #hashtags is quickly becoming useless. Even important ones for #MastoAdmin like #Fediverse and #Mastodon are filled with toots of random #photos and #art. Some even promoting their #porn or #gamedev#gaming project. Even random #journal or #blog posts FILLED with random irrelevant hashtags. It's quite infuriating...if you know what I mean.🤦♂️😬
I have a big request for everyone on #Mastodon who publishes #photos from the internet - tag the authors!
If the #photo is not signed, use a search engine to find the author. This is the minimum respect you should show photographers when publishing their work.
Lower Falls on Gold Creek at Golden Ears Provincial Park, Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. One of my favourite waterfalls, especially when the spray allows for easy viewing!
As much as I don't want to, I'm going to unfollow a couple of you who are posting images without descriptions or boosting others who are doing so. I enjoy your content otherwise.
Had a blast riding over Stevens Pass, Blewett Pass, and Snoqualmie Pass over the weekend! I finally became comfortable with counterleaning allowing me to put my CBR650R to good use on twisty roads, and the Corbin saddle with 2” extra height over the stock seat saved my knees and wrists. This bike is so much fun! (Album (more photos))
As a brave wayfaremaker in the uncharted regions of #fashion I encounter conundrums as yet unimagined by those who choose your wardrobes where it is safe, near the core. (‘corecore’, if you will)
Pearls are not oft combined with neckties and so no etiquette guide can advise if it should go over, under, around through … or neither! More research required.
I really need to start using my Pixelfed account a lot more. I do post quite a few photos here on Mastodon of the things I take pictures of but never really share them over there as well.
With that stated, if anyone wishes to follow me on Pixelfed, you can do so via the link below.
